Just had my first 'kill'...

Was driving on the highway, and I ended up behind a Mustang GT (not sure if it was auto or stick, but I'm guessing auto) at a red light.

He was weaving in and out of traffic earlier, so I assumed he'd at least step on it off the line so I got ready to step on it too and try to get next to him.

As soon as I passed the car next to us, I moved into the 'middle' lane (there were 4 lanes), and floored it ... he was already about 1.5 car lengths in front of me since he was originally in front of me, but it was pretty sweet to pull up right next to him and then ahead by about 0.5 car lengths before we ended up running into the traffic in front of us ...

Got to about 90mph or so before I had to shut down...

Wasn't the cleanest race in the world, but it was a lot of fun considering it was my first 'race' in the TL-S (my previous car was a Mitsubishi Eclipse with 130hp and couldn't race much except old ladies)

On a side note, the day before I was lined up with a lowered/ricer looking white 2nd gen Eclipse. I *thought* he would race since the car looked like a ricer, and I figured some modded Eclipses can get pretty fast ... needless to say, I either surprised him because of my 'family sedan' or he just didn't want to race, cuz I looked damn stupid flooring it when the light turned green and seeing him take off nice and slow

Anyways, now that I'm close to 1500 miles, I figured its pretty safe to have some fun once in awhile with my car. I'm loving every minute in it too!

The secret to racing or when to race:

1. Either you or the guy next to you start revving the engine
2. Inching up waiting for the light to turn green
3. Rolling down your window and asking the person if he/she wants to race
4. The person giving you the "look"
5. The person pointing straight ahead
6. The person laughing at you and your ride

Personally, I never initiate a race. I always wait til the other guy starts first cause I don't want to look stupid peeling out while he doesn't want to race. But most of the time I can tell if the other person wants to race so I am prepared.

BTW, good kill!

doode... there will be many, many, many more for you..... Congratulations. One thing that is not clear: Where the other cars racing you at all? I mean... It does not appear as if you were given the "look" at any time...

stiletto,

Well, unfortunately because the guy was in front of me, I couldn't get a 'look' from him or anything. I'm assuming he didn't expect to race since I was behind him and not at the line with him ... However, he had been driving pretty hard before the light, and he stepped on it pretty hard off the line (maybe he didn't floor it, I dont know) ... I dont really count it as a true kill, thats why I put the words 'kill' in quotes ... In a 'real' street race, if there is such a thing, I would have started next to him, not behind him

As I passed the guy, I glanced over at him and he didn't look over at me at all, just kept looking straight ... but maybe he was just pissed that I was passing him at the time

I'm assuming the Eclipse wasn't interested in racing ... I was talking to my roomate at the time, so I didn't really get a chance to give the 'glance'

I'm just really impressed with the car and having fun ... I guess no matter what, its more fun to drive than my old Eclipse

Uggg... On that note:

Another 19 year old just got put in prison for 9 months for street racing in Portland. They hit the poor person strait on doing 70 miles an hour after racing from a light. The person he hit was paralyzed from the neck down.... Guy should have gotten 25 years...

Bring it on. But you won't be able to race until at least 600 miles in.

BTW, where in whippany are you? If you are around my area, give me a holler.

Cool, Maybe you'll be my first race As for the 600 miles for break in... Ill get the first 200 on it by monday afternoon... then all bets are off... Its going to my shop to be tweaked...I have a garage full of goodies that i pulled from my 00 accord... Im so glad i can transfer the parts from one to the other http://www.sounddomain.com/id/set4lifenj as you can see on the third page i went nuts on the flowbench. It just had its first oil change and thought it needed a couple more ponies... I know what I was looking for and it wasnt going to be gained with CAI or w/ meatball shooters. Oh i worked it nicely

im near troy rd.

I never really visited accord forums due to the fact im a honda technician by trade. I like to help when i can, however i got enough cars/customers with issues also.. What brings me here is figuring out how i can get a composite connection to the navi, and get left and right inputs into the stock deck...

"what do you mean near troy rd" Im between the lone star steak house and troy rd....

Last I heard, that unit was in very high demand and there were only a few which I assume are already snatched up. But you can try to talk to Ron (Streeteffectz) on this board. He has his own shop and he was the one that installed it for me over a year ago.
You can try to PM/e-mail/AIM him.
