It gives you more power at high revs. Some have reported that they have gained 25-30 HP. Also, the torque increases.

You can buy the headers through this site , and it will run you around $1,100

no one in their right mind is gonna spend $1100 for headers

look headers ae nice, but some other compamy is gonna have to step up and take some market share from those gougers at Comptech. I wouldnt buy anything from Comptech just because of thier attutude as a company

just my $.02

I agree 100% with you!! In my case, I penny-pinched on all my other mods. I got most of them either through ebay or someone on the board selling it. I saw it this way, I saved money on my other mods so I can afford to pay regular price for this one, since there is no other competitor!! It all balances out in the end!!

I love when people say this. I agree, but to a point. Yes, they are expensive, but tell me another manufacturer that gives you ~30whp with their headers? I agree that $1100 is a lot, and I'm waiting myself b/c over the next year or so, someone will step up, but I still don't think that the Comptech's will drop below $800-$900.

Think about this.....

- Injen Intake w/Bypass - $256. Gives about 6whp. That's $42.67 per HP

- Comptech Headers - $1100. Gives about 30whp. That's $36.67 per HP.

People complain about the price of the headers, but the real suckers are the one's who buy the intake (me included). The sum of money is cheaper, but the headers are actually the best bang for the buck.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BTW, rmarin2... congrats on the purchase!! I've never seen anyone who didn't like the headers, so I'm sure you'll love them too!!

JB,
Don't forget to include the supercharge in to that calculation, I think that should be among your list

Thumbs up

I feel a huge improvement from ~5300 up. It's the first normally-aspirated bolt-on I've ever put on a car that truly made a difference that I felt.

About the 25-30 hp gain, is it with aftermarket exhaust or OEM exhaust ?

And it's priced just about the same as the comptech. If that turns out to be the final selling price, I think comptech will still have the edge because its a well known product that WORKS!! I don't know if people are willing to spend $1000 and be a guinea pig!! Just my thoughts!!

are the headers more effective if used with upgraded exhausts? or is it good enuf to just put in headers without changing exhaust?

I think it depends on when you want your power to be produced at I think I read somewhere that if you upgrade the exhaust to reduce backpressure you will hurt the low and mid range power but help the high end power. Do that make any sense?

Got the headers and rear exhaust, and would never go back to cstock now! Know how the car has no more pull after 3rd and 4th killing out top end, well it helps that also with the extra high end power to get you to the next too tall over drive gear! Others complain it only makes HP at high RPM, but where else do you want it on this type of engine with FWD? I lowered by ET by over half a second!! So thats proof they got it right.

I got a best of 14.3 in the 1/4 with just these comptech mods! Now I have the comptech drop in air filter, and the fact the exhaust flows better and the stock filter was very dirty at 12K miles in my sandy location, the car REALLY pulls now! Did want the noise and only few HP of the ingen and other intakes.

You have to pay to play, and I have nothing but good to say.....about Comptech.

Quick Question

Do I need to reset the ECU after having the headers installed?

What's the difference???

between the Comptech headers and the Prototype racing (outside the fact that Prototype isn't in production yet)?? I'm getting headers in the fall... maybe a port and polish too, and for $1100 I want to make sure I made the right decision.

I only see 17.9 whp for both header and muffler for TL. Where did you get the 30 whp from again? Would have thought more in line of about 21-24 whp maximum. Still a great deal as far as I can tell on hp/dollar. (anything under $100/hp is IMO)
