Just bought a 2003 TL-S A SPEC

HI
i just joined forums today cause i just bought my car. This car is really nice and im hoping to stick to imports from now on... I used to drive an Oldsmobile intrigue but we got rid of it ASAP because it was showing signs of tranny problems. Anyways I have a couple of questions and if you know the answer please let me know.

1. I was stopped at a stop light and felt a little shake is that normal??
2. Why can't canadians log on to Owners link?
3. Where can i get a dash mount for my stereo (website)???
4. How do you know you need the Oil jet kit?
5. Is there a Acura-TL CANADA?

thanks for your time.

hi and welcome...you have a very nice car - congrats!

1. Yes, usually if the engine or tranny arent warm yet this will happen more often. I believe our engines idle lower than some for polution control reasons.

2. sorry dont know...

3. http://www.audioonlineoutlet.com/acura.html

To make this kit match our interior even better....you need to wet sand it then hit it with a couple coats of flat black spray paint. I used 400, 600, 800 grit. now the finish looks stock.

4. I believe you can log onto the Acura website and they will give a list of VIN#'s that are affected or just go to your dealer...Im pretty sure you do BTW

5. I think this is the one and only Acura-TL.com...but there are quite a few members on here from Canada.

good luck with the ride and dont hesitate to ask questions....use the Search button to find out even more info.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the purchase.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but as you read up more on the forums, you will realize that you traded in your transmission problem for another transmission problem. 1999 and on 5-speed automatic transmission is affected by an extended warranty for a 3rd gear problem, and a recall for a 2nd gear problem. Many members have gone through multiple transmissions and 2003 is no exception. But some do get lucky and have a trouble-free transmission. Keep your fingers crossed.

Having said that... let me answer your questions.

1. If you have the A/C on, whenever the compressor starts up, the car will jerk a little bit. Other than that, any big noticeable shakes/jerks would be something you need to have looked at. If you can describe to us more in details as to when it happens under what conditions, that would help us narrow down the possible causes of the problem.

2. Owner Link is exclusive to U.S. owners, just like certain TSBs. It's BS, of course, but what can you do?

3. Can't help you there.

4. Your car is affected by the 2nd gear fluid jet recall. However, since you live in Canada and are the second owner, there's a good chance that Acura may not be able to locate you and contact you regarding the recall. Your best bet at this point is to call your nearest Acura dealership and schedule an appointment to have the recall performed. This is not an issue of whether you "need" this fix or not -- it's a must, since if anything happens down the road to your transmission and you didn't get this recall done on your car, they may void your transmission warranty.

5. No, there's no Acura-TL Canada. But we do have members from there and they use the Meet and Greet section to organize meets. Derrick is also from Canada and has come out to Michigan to a meet before. You should check up on the meets section often and come hang out with us!

See I haven't heard anything about the recall and all my Cdn mail goes to my office. I bought my 03 A-Spec brand new.

The vibration thing is normal, it is suttle but has always been there on my car.

You will start spending too much money on this car. You've got a good start with the A-Spec (I love mine), but suspension, stereo, performance mods will get you (I just started on acquiring my stereo components, already done the suspension/performance thing).

Have fun.

LOL.

Yeah, I go up to Toronto for meets; go to Michigan for meets. I'm all over the place. I love driving my car around. Congrats on the A-spec. Nice car. I hope you got the blue -- I wish I could have got my car in that colour. Black is HOT but much more difficult to keep clean/swirl free. With the A-spec, you're that much closer to the true JDM conversion... I'm jealous!

This is a great site with loads of information and a great collection of friendly car enthusiasts. Come on out to the meets and see who you're talking with ... I drive 4 hrs to go to these meets so you know I'm obsessed!

Nice!

Welcome aboard. There is a TL section on www.torontoaccords.com that some of us hang out on.

How much were the TypeS door stickers?

Ooh, I've never seen pics of a NBP TL-S A-Spec. Sweet! I hope you enjoy the car. If you bought the car from an Acura dealership, there's a chance that the dealer already put the Oil Jet fix on your car. You should call and check with them ... usually Acura doesn't allow dealerships to sell cars until they have all of the current recalls put on the car.
