ok so me and my man are rollin down the road (he owns a c32) in my TL-S and we see a benz and maxima on the side of the road. Of course I make a comment abouit the benz being in distress and calling tele-aid to get on his nerves, and he comes back with, NO it's the maxima in distress and the benz helping out ( I have a maxima also). So we pass them and about 2 minutes later I see them both coming up real fast then they pass us. I say to my friend it's ON!! So of course the max goes down quickly, then I'm in full assualt mode for the benz. Drop it into sport shift 3rd gear is in full effect. I catch the E430 and pass him in 4th gear. We were both going flat out and traffic was a little ways up the road. Since I see no threat so put her in 5 and cruise up to the traffic. Of course, then here comes the maxima)4th gen)(using the shoulder) to pass us both in the traffic jam.
It was a good run. My friend was a little disturbed that I took the e430 so easily. Oh well......

O.G.
This doesn't sound right. I know that the E430 is a beast on the low end and is a monster on the top end. And we all know how slow the TL-S 4th and 5th gears are and you said you past him going in 4th gear.
Either way, good kill but be careful with them.

All that text book stuff may be true but I'm just telling what happened from my end. I don't know what he was doing in his car but we were both above 120, so I'd assume he was pushing his car as I was pushing mine.
thanks

BTW I couldnt see if it was a 2.2 or a 3.0 CL
Point is, if you ran with a faster car and passed them, great. Just don't be delusional.

Sometimes cars overtake me even when I'm going 80; either they're racing me or they're just in a hurry.

Car and Driver tested a E430 back on 09/01 and 1/4 mile time was 14.5 and a top speed of 129 (electronically limited). Motor Trend tested a E430 Sport on 09/01 also and the 1/4 mile time was 14.7. TL Type-S 1/4 mile was 14.8 and 14.7 from Car and Driver and Motor Trend respectively. The 1/4 mile between the E430 and Type-S will be close.
