me & my friends had met up to go eat and my friend drove his dad's e430 (lorinser kit, exhaust, intake, rims) and i was in my type s.....he kept tellin me to run it with him and so on the way we slowed down for a light to turn red........when we took off....he started to pull away in first gear at about 3000-4500 rpm...when vtec kicked in.....i started to catch up and at the end of second, i was 3/4 car length ahead.......i raced him with vsa off and in sport shift(for a longer 2nd gear) and i talked $hit to him all night.........

Yeah, i did the same thing too. My friend has a 2000 e430 sports w/AMG rims. I raced him 5 times from 0-85.... I beat him till 65-70, then after that, the V8 kicked in. But he was shocked how fast the TLS was.
I raced a '97 740i last nite and off the line I was definitely ahead. We raced to about every other light and I took him with no problem. Although I suspect had it been on a highway, he would have caught up with me at about 80 or so.
Guys guys guys. 
If you wind your Type-S out to 7200 in 2nd and 3rd you will be a match for either the 430 or 740 up to 115MPH.
I've done it enough times to know first hand. If you don't believe me then try it out for yourself.
