Right you are - I traded into my TL-S from a '96 Saab 900 SE...that was a TOTALLY different experience (i.e. most of the complaints I have read about the TL would not even hit the radar screen in a Saab forum). Be thankful for the value we have in these cars!

In the "old" days much of the power that a dealer's service department had was due to the lack of knowledge that any one owner had regarding the pervasiveness of a quality problem. These days we communicate between oursselves faster than the auto industry does.

They blow smoke -- we respond BullS*&@.

I think that the people who buy these cars are picky about the little things. The reason why we buy this car is because we know it's good.

To that end, we will always pick at the details in the relentless pursuit towards perfection. This is continuous improvement. If it weren't for people like us, cars would not get better and better.

The Acura 3.2 TL-S is an awesome car. And we can only hope that it continues to keep people like us talking about it.

That's my 2 Cents

I think the main reason I post on this forum about "little" nitpicky problems is so that I can ask others about it before I wanna get it fixed at a dealer. If the car can be made the best it can possibly be (i.e. have all the warranty fixes taken care of) .. why not? After spending 34K after taxes, I think nitpicky is the right thing to do regarding issues like: low hanging exhaust (mine was over 1.5" -- very noticeable), rattles (haven't experienced any).. blah blah. I can see overlooking some of these issues buying a less expensive .. ahem.. i mean more ECONOMICAL car such as an Accord, or .. god forbid, a Maxima.

If it wasn't for this forum, I'll bet 80% of us would never have noticed some of the minor imperfections on our TL's and TL-S's.

While some are worthy enough to bring up with the dealer (streaking wipers, tranny problems, noises from the seat belt, etc) some of the things we've been mentioning are really nit-picky items that we would have never noticed (brake lines, exhaust hanging lower than the other, even mirrors being too small!)

To a new forum member, it may appear (if they don't read through all the messages for a few weeks) that these cars have all these problems. But in reality, they're very well-built and we have to almost LOOK for something wrong.

In other words, these cars are well-built and we really need to spend more time enjoying them!

Just my .02...

Couldn’t agree with you more MCD :-).

I think most participants in this forum are aware of what an amazing car the TLS is, and know better than to allow minor imperfections take away from the pure enjoyment of driving this car. Having said that, one of the main purposes of a forum is to share experiences. I know I’ve learnt a lot about my TLS from other member’s experience’s with theirs. My advice is not to get too caught up in the minor complaints voiced by TLS owners (myself included). Just enjoy your car for what is : a great piece of engineering.

I have seen cars with flaws from Benz, BMW, Audi and, yes, even RR. I work in the auto insurance business and it is my job to know about cars and there is nobody meaner that the owner of a RR to whom I have just shown some flaws. My 98 GS400 had lots of problems - sure the dealer fixed them all, but what a waste of a lot of my time. There are NO perfect cars, but we do expect the luxury lines to be better.

Wink

If my husband noticed all of my little flaws or imperfections he would have traded me years ago. But he says that's what makes me unique. Seriously though, I've had my car for a couple of weeks now and have racked up over 500 miles. I never realized what an aftermarket of parts there are for this car. I purchased the car for looks, value, and wanted a sporty car as well as a kid transporter (I have two teens). My kids said "NO WAY" to the Odyssey! I guess the good news for my son is that by the time I get this car paid(4 yrs)....he won't mind getting the keys to mom and dad's car. [I was wondering why people kept wanting to race me at the lights, I didn't realize I had such a HOT car]. For the few imperfections that I have noticed, the car is a great value and will maintain a high resale compared to other's in the same class.
{Just hope the gas prices don't go through the roof!)
