IPOD Connection to TL HU
IPOD Connection to TL HU
Now that I'm going to keep my 02 TL for a while, I would like to hard-wire my IPOD to the head unit (6 CD changer and NO navi). I read a bunch of threads about this and I am leaning towards the USA-spec but want to make sure I have my facts correct. It's my understanding that the Blitzsafe will not allow me to control the IPOD from the radio steering wheel controls but the USA-spec will. Is that correct? I thought I read that the USA-spec lacked some feature that the Blitzsafe has but I can't find that in this forum. Does anyone know what that might be? It seems to me that it had something to do with the display.
Also, I was thinking about adding XM to the car. Is it possible to hardwire XM using the USA-spec as well as the IPOD? If so, is it a matter of hitting the CD button on the radio to toggle between the CD player, the IPOD, and XM?

i have a usa spec...dont know much about the blitzsafe tho.
you can control the ipod with steering wheel controls using usa spec. the back end of the usa spec has audio RCA hookups for any auxilliary device(i believe XM should be as simple as plugging in the red/whites and your set.) Not positive about which button needed to key the XM...most likely the CD button, just like controlling the ipod.

i'm happy with it...although my preferences may differ from yours. i dont really fool around with playlists(mainly i just put the pod on shuffle and scroll through as i want). if i do, i just do it manually with the ipod.
i'm not sure how it displays on newer gen2 tl's. i got a 99 and it just shows track number.

Some of us have a unit called the Isimple sold at BestBuy... it displays all ipod info (song, track, playlists) thru you stock stereo head unit and it allows for Ipods, HD radio, or other MP3 players to be hooked up.
Upside is that you can use your steering wheel and stock head unit for everything.
I don't have it, but I am seriously looking into it. It says for 2004 Acura TL's and up, but it also supports 1999-2002 Honda Accords, which may or may not make it compatible with our car. I just have to find out if it has the same factory stereo connectors.
