Question Interior Trims

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the black interior with faux-wood trim or is it only going to come with that Bowling Ball trim?
I want the black interior but I don't like that funky Bowling Ball job.

Thanks...

Pretty sure you can only get the black interior with the Bowling Ball look. If you want the wood trim, you'll need to go for the Parchment interior.

Question

I put a deposit on the regular TL, expected to come in March 15. Does anyone know if the regular 2002 TL with the ebony interior has the same bowling ball trim like the Type S or does it have the natural brown trim that you get with the parchment?

You sure about that?? It is my understanding that regular TL's will have the faux wood trim and only TL-S will have the black wood.

So in order to get the "wood" trim I'd have to get the Parchment color interior?
That sounds really dumb.
I thought the bowling ball trim was exclusive to the black interior but if you wanted another trim, you could get it.
You couldn't get the bowling ball with any other interior beside black though.
Is that correct?
I think the black with wood trim looks good but I don't like that bowling ball.

There is a pic of a silver TL-S with the ebony wood trim here: http://www.acura-tl.com/2002_TL-S.htm .. The term "bowling ball trim" started here on this board. You really need to see it in person though. It's really not as bad as the pic depicts it. Although I do like the regular wood trim better, the ebony trim will not stop me from getting the ebony interior. Parchment interior just gets too dirty for me and the lighter leather to me doesnt keep as well as the black.

I don't get the bowling ball bit. What does that mean? Does someone have pics?

You could simply order the parts from the parts dept and then replace it or have them replace it for you. Yes it is more exspensive, but it's an option.

So the ebony is going to come stock with the "Bowling Ball" trim and if I want anything else, I need to pay more?

yea, i think you probably do. cause anything extra they have to do after it is built...i think is called dealer installed or something. don't take my word on it, i'm just speculating.

Per the Brochure.....
White diamond pearl, Naples gold metallic, Firepepper red pearl, Eternal Blue pearl, Dark emerald pearl and nighthawk black pearl are the only colors available with Parchment as an option. Of those, only the White DP, Dark emerald pearl and Nighthawk black are available on the S type.

If you want an S type in Silver or Aegean blue, you get the ebony interior.

I just looked in my brochure which I happily received today. The ebony interior picture is shown with Bowling ball trim.
It looks bad IMO.
I want the faux wood trim with black ebony interior but I guess I'll have to pay more as a dealer installed option.
What a bummer!

Talked to a dealer today about changing the bowling ball black to the standard wood tone trim. Service tech said doing the console would be easy, but the doors would be tough because the handle on the door just under the trim would have to be removed to change the trim. He said it would be extremely labor intensive and probably cost about 2K. If anyone hears differently let us know.

it's totally not worth it. like i stated earlier, the "black wood" looks sweet. just get the wooddash kit...and it'll look even sweeter.

I guess I'll have to look at the parchment interior with the wood trim.
I just can't believe that they wouldn't offer the ebony interior with the wood trim.
It looked so nice on the 2001 model.

That bowling ball looks really wierd in the pictures I've seen.
Maybe it looks different in person but I just can't imagine it would.

$2k? Thats BS. Don't listen to that crap. The console would be easy and the doors are completely do-able for a reasonable price.
