this is a crazy idea but...

put a cooling fan where the stock sub was and have it blow hot air from the trunk into the cabin through the rear deck. maybe wire it through the amp so it turns on when the amp does?

just a thought...

try `Reflectex` inside the trunk lid- made for heat reflection- see internet for details- sold in hardware stores,,pretty cheap

dynamat would probably help too--its foil faced right?

I like the idea of a 12volt fan pulling heat from the trunk!
finally that small pass thru opening has a real purpose!

If you insulate it the heat in there will be even worse- kills electronics. 12v fan on amps sounds like a good idea.

I will figure out how to remove the cover on my car and try reflectex,
its used on several other projects around the house, and for the car windows when parked

Id bet the majority of the heat in there is coming from the electronics insulating it will most likely only make it worse

Unless its been running prior to it i fail to see how it could get that hot as its in indirect heat and not direct. We see 100 deg summer temps (and i have visited texas and florida many times and and my amps have never gotten that warm from sitting in the trunk without them being on.
You also have to remember that the trunk is vented. When the car is moving air is being pulled thru it and out vent spots so it will draw out the warmer air.

my trunk gets extremely hot from the sun hitting a dark grey car

No amp or anything-no inner heat source
open it at the grocery store and a heat wave blast forth

I take insulated grocery just bags to get the ice cream bars home safe!

Im not saying it doesnt get hot. The inside of the car gets hotter imo. If his amps are getting hot enough sitting in the trunk off that it feels like it would burn your hand
