Yeah - it was mine! I went through a small fortune in gas on the trip up and back.
BUT.... it was well worth it!
Mike does a great job and those of you waiting for the DIY - be patient it's well worth the wait!
If anybody in the Winchester/Manassas Va area wants to see it up close, just let me know and we'll figure something out.

Yes, we still have to get together for me to replace the bad LED's. I'm leaving for BC for a few weeks next friday. So after that, we could get together. It shouldnt take too long to replace the bad ones.

It's not that difficult to do it if u guys look at the 1st page pics and u should be able to figure out how he did. Of cause it take alot of time and error to finish this mod. Most important thing is u need to know how the caculation work on resistor for the type of leds u want to put on. When I did leds light in my headlight I had to ask Ontario advice, he is great guy to help me out about resistor's caculation otherwise u will burn out ur leds.
First leds light
2nd resistors( important)
how to run wire u like and soldering

that is along the lines i was thinking, where they where just colored with something
you might get streaks then, but the marks are so small, that it might not matter cause it proably be like one swipe over it

I wish I got that kind of amount of times really.sorry, I am sure someone will come up to complete it for u and I got reverse glow guages on my ride and prefer it. For the multi color -- color films or u could go with colored leds like single color leds or even triple color in one bulb. Then ur guages will be look fantastic.

Funny I don't remember posting a reply that the DIY was dead. I refuse to post a date that it will come out as I don't want to disappoint when I don't meet the deadline.
Life gets in the way of me sitting here and working on a DIY. Even winhansse put the words right in my mouth......time, it isn't always abundant.
I had a shitty camera to take pics with before that still have images I need to look over and see if I can even use them for the DIY. I've also gone through 5 revisions before the final before I can even start to figure out to explain what I did. I know this will be over some of your heads once you do read it.
I also worry about when it comes time to clearing out your filters on the gauges. Use the wrong shit and it will screw up big time and who would be blamed for it? Me. The stuff I use isn't available in the US and I think it was discontinued here. Nail polish remover may work, but I know the TL-S gauges are much more fragile than TL-P. I know, I've done them all.
A sharpie marker is indeed used for the colouring, but there is more to it than that.
There will be no getting around soldering as well so if you are not inclined in electronics...don't even bother.
So I will say again, it will be done when its done. I welcome anyone who wants to attempt to make their own, or just wait. Who knows.....xmas is just around the corner and miracles do happen around that time

use the flat side of the sharpie, not the tip.
and when removing the filter on the back, nail polish does work but it is still too strong if u let it sit so careful
#193
for the nail polish it just be having something handy to remove/deactivate it and only doing small sections
( not the artsie type, more mechanical minded, give me something to assembly and i would have no problem (like the wiring is absolutely no problem for me), but paint and it would not look it's best)

For anyone attempting this I dont know if this will help but I completly redid my cluster with LEDs like this on my Acura Legend. I actually used your same TL cluster as my doner cluster for my needles. Not the same but it might help some of you out.
PS. To OP who did this I'm curious how you used a voltage regulator and still managed to have the ability to dim your gauge lights??

I was impressed with the red leds under the needle. Again, wish it could be done, but not worth the risk.
Now to answer your question. I managed to use a voltage regulator and still be able to use the dimmer as I tapped into the power of the old bulb mounts, but made sure the string of LED's were fed by the voltage regulator and not from the PC board source of power. I'll have more info soon
