FamusFace, what did you think of it when you came by today to get your leds fixed? And sorry that the cops pulled you over as you arrived in my city.

Hey Mike, one question, is it just me or is the mp/h digits dim and hard to read? How do they make out in person?

It's coming..... I have to fix my rear view mirror first with my mod before it starts leaking.

My 2nd revision does work to show the mph pretty good, but the 4th improves it further as you can see from the first pic on the first page of this post. My camera doesn't work too well to show off the work

Great job on the gauges! I've been wanting to do this mod for a while. Quick question. How much different would it look if I used just the LED replacement bulbs (the plug and play ones) along with the modding blue filter to make the numbers show white? I have some soldering experience but I think a job like this is beyond me. lol.

you will still get the hot spots and uneven light dispersion. Removing the blue filter on the gauges will make it even worse.

Wouldn't stranded wire be better to use- more flexible, less likely to break?

You could use stranded, but good luck trying to wrap the strands around the terminals of the superflux leds. And you dont need to have the flexibility as once you set the solid strand in place...you dont need to move it again. I haven't had any breakage in any of my installs.

Update

Ok, a little update for those who are hanging on. I'm in the middle of concentrating on my nieces wedding this weekend, trying to get used to this HD cam I bought since I'm the videographer and MC...so cluster DIY is on the backburner at the moment. Then I have a member coming up from the states to visit and get their car done. I need to take new pics which will be during this install as I have bumped up the mod to Ver. 4.1. A little change once again...not much but would make it easier for the needle led alignment. So I'm looking at the end of October.
I am in a dilemma about the removal of the blue filter on the gauges though. Up here in Canada there is a good product to get from Home Depot or was it wal-mart?, but in the states it is not available from the looks of it (I had a member check for me). Some in the past mentioned nail polish remover, which might work if you get the extra strength kind, I know I tried it and the stuff was shit for me. It dries out too quickly and you have to do a lot of rubbing to remove the filter. Your result may vary. The problem I have noticed is the TL-S labels are fragile compared to the TL-P gauges...too much bending or too much rubbing will cause cracks or even tearing (it can happen on the TL-P version as well, with more force). I've managed to get it down to a science where none of that happens....just takes a lot longer and more patience.

^ Sounds good. Priorities come first anyways.

It will make the DIY more smooth with the time you take to explain everything in detail.

Hell I may have to just take a road trip up there and have my vehicle done.

I have to break my motor in anyways.

Well, I can personally tell you guys that with the TL-S is very tricky to do. Ontario took the whole day to do my Gauges and they came out Amazing! I know that I would not attempt this one on my own...But for those who are waiting for the DIY, It'll be quite the adventure...and Yeah, I know I still have to post the Pics of Ontario's great work!
