Installing Springs

I just got a quote from Les Shwab on installing Einbock Pro springs (2" and 1.75"). The quote was for install and parts at $475. They say an alingment is needed ($70) and that the rear MAY (they are not sure) need control arms at $80 a peice and then add labor. For those of you who have done this... Is all of this needed?

i dont know about your spring, but i just had some h&r's installed the other day and i paid $150 for labor. alignment you should do about 1 week after you install your springs so you springs have time to settle. control arm?!?! dont think you need that man.

Depending on the amount the car is lowered you may need adjustable control arms.If the car after aligning is done exceeds 2 degrees of camber in the rear then I would rec. you have them put in but if not it is not needed.I have installed countless numbers of lowering springs but have not had need for control arms as of yet. Most of the cars are slightly out of spec in the rear but to date I have not seen any of them wear their tire excessively.Jens

i had done some of what you mentioned and am gonna do the rest soon...

- eibach prokit springs $280 installed
- specialty products rear arms ~$140 installed
- alignment, might get a hookup at $30

so your prices are very close to what i got. i got the springs already, but haven't done the kit or alignment.

as for whether to camber correct or not, you can get the kits if you rather not worry about anything...since any kind of lowering will induce more negative camber (albeit very slight if you don't lower too much).

No, your getting a much better deal. They want $270 for the springs and then $120 to install. Then they want $70 for the alingment. The arms arn't even added yet!

I paid 260 for comptech springs, 115 for install, 80 for alignment from dealer.. that comes out to 445.

the reason why i got comptechs is because is doesnt lower the rears that much, so control arms/(camber kit?) wasnt needed. Even with the 1.5 rear drop, the wheels were slightly out of spec. If I were to get H&R or Eibach, then i would definitely get the camber kit.

so the price is fair imo.

I have a quote, also from Les Schwab:

Eibach Pro Kit: 265.93
Install Labor : 110.00
Alignment : 69.95
Camber kit : 327.02

Total w/tax : 817.37

This shop said rear control arms and kit are necessary with these springs.

Who's right about the camber kit with these springs? The drop would be about 2 inches front and back, I was told.
