Immobilizer chip

My ignition key broke a while back so I was just holding the fob next to the key to start the car. I lost the fob recently so I removed the immobilizer chip. Now the car cranks but won't start. Is there something else I need to do besides remove the chip?

I don't want to be 'that guy'; however, why don't you just simplify the process and put the chip back in and pay the bulldog to get a new programmed chipped key and/or fob??

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing:

Key: contains the immobilizer RFID chip within the black plastic
Fob: clicker used to lock/unlock the care remotely

That being said, changing the keys on any modern cars requires a locksmith or dealer to reprogram the ECU to pair with the RFID chip in the key.

From the other related thread, it sounds like the OP removed the immob chip from the ecu board. However, a CEL is an obvious side effect. The funny thing is, there are more effective (reversible) ways to bypass without messing with the key, or ecu.

For the OP, suggest finding an oem replacement ecu and pay the stealership / find a locksmith that can program the key.

The immobilizer RFID chip broke from the rest of the key a while back. I hold the black part next to the rest of the key to start the car. I did find the top half of my key finally but not until after I had removed the immobilizer chip. Apparently the chip can't be resoldered because I removed it by wiggling it back and forth. It does seat back onto the board good, we tried taping it down sounded like a long shot but worth a try but I still didn't get the green light on the dash or a start.

Are you able to tell me the more effective way to bypass it? I'm not worried about the check engine light it's always on anyway.
