Flip style acura key

Hey guys(and gals) i was wondering if we had a chip in all of our keys. I would assume so but im not sure. I wanted to somehow incorperate(cut and somehow attach) my key into a VW flip key fob. Now i wouldn't expect the keyfob to work or anything but i think i could deal without using my key fobs anyways just for the flip-key coolness factor. And if there is a chip does anyone know how they work? could i just remove the chip from say my valet key and slide it into the fob of the VW key ? ANY commets or suggestions would be appericiated

There is a chip in the key. It sends/corresponds to the car that it's the right key and it will allow the car to start. If you had a key that was cut right but didn't have the chip, the car will try to start but stops short of doing so.

To accomplish your task, you need what people with remote car starts have, a key transponder that kinda pretends that it's has the key with the right code...somethign like this

If you do a search, someone has already done this and the thread talks about how and what needs to happen to make it work.

Seems to me like you would be paying money to make your car more prone to being stolen with the transponder thingy. Doesn't make too much sense to me.

yea i agree the transponder is probably a little too risky,, i just wanted a flip key, and was brainstorming how to do it.
