ignition switch

ok, i searched but didnt find anything. i have a lot of open room below my headunit. i was thinking of moving the ignition switch to there, and having a push button start. moving the ignition switch wont pose any problems will it?

Why would you have an ignition switch with key AND a push button? Why move it? why not put the push button by the radio?

well you have to have the ignition switch even with a button if im correct. and just to be different. i have the radio taking up the top slot, (single din) and then just a blank spot below it. id have like the key hole right in the middle of that blank spot, with the button beside it. it would just be to be different. if i didnt like it i could always put it back too

i drew this up real quick. the top part is the head unit, and from left to right on the bottom: push button start - igntion switch - footwell lighting switch - something else - battery voltage (for car audio)

opinions? or any tips on doing this

Too much work for saving 2 seconds of turning the key and being different IMO.

But it's not my car. GL

What are you going to do with the hole left in the steering col. where the switch was?

How would it save any time? You would have to turn on the key first then move your hand to the push button-

youd still have to leave an ignition on the steering column or else you steering wheel wont lock. that would just make it easier to steal. leave the ignition where it is and add a push button start. or just get a double din and your problem is solved.....

and you wont save any time. You will spend more time starting the car. The only good push buttons are the ones where you just need to carry the fob on you and push the button. Having to put the key in and just turn it to the run position then take your hand and push a button is lame. Why not just keep turning it to start the car

on the ignition switch is built a lock for the steering wheel so when the keys not in it it wont move. once u turn the iginition it releases the lock. youll see when u take out the switch.

I agree with you dude, I think this whole idea it a total waist of time and money and if anyone here wants a car with push button start go out and buy a lexus or audi or something...

Heard from whom? Ask whoever that is to explain. Still think the hole left in the column would look like sh*t.
