Idling Problem

When idling, my car seems to surge...the rpms surge up and down up to about 1000rpm. While doing this, if the lights are on, the dashboard surges as well, dimming and then coming back to normal. To add to this, sometimes the car will jolt forward a second if my foot is off the break. When I had my '01 it had a problem similar to this and the "idle control modulator" or something like that was replaced. Could this be the same problem? Any ideas and prices to fix it guys? Thanks

Sounds similar to the problem I had recently and the dealer said the Idle Air Control valve was plugged up with carbon, fixed it, runs like new.

did you just reset the ecu? I notice when I resetted my ecu, my idle jumped up and down constantly for about 50 miles(ecu trying to adjust). then after my idle was smooth as a butterfly.

I dont know but i own a few honda before and everytime I spray cleaner in it, it gets messed up making the idle worst.

I would have to agree that looks nothing like the IACV.

Yes it is on the bottom of the throttle body, but no it doesn't look like that. Ever since getting that fixed, my gas mileage has gotten better. How you may ask?

I do a lot of city driving and when I would come to a stop it would vary rpm's from stalling to 1000rpm's so I would have to keep my foot on the gas and break a little to keep her going. Seems to just run smoother in general now.
