Faulty OPDS Sensor
Faulty OPDS Sensor
I went to the dealership b/c my red SRS light had turned on for the 4 time in the last few months. The first few time it had to do with a faulty seatbelt sensor, so they went ahead and replaced it. This time their diagnostic test returned error code 15-3 which they said means I need to rplace the OPDS system. They claim that it is not covered by my bumper-bumper warranty. To fix it, supposedly it will cost $480. I think that this should be covered, if anyone has anyone has had this problem or knows any specifics concerning Acura Certified Preowned extended warranty some feedback would great.

You should read your warranty, and unless you can find it in your paperwork that it is not included or specifically excluded, bring the paperwork in and ask them to show you where it says that it's not covered. If you have coverage for a lot of stuff, and no mention of SRS system, it should be included.
Sorry for general answer, no experience with this warranty.

Yeah, you're out of basic warranty. If you do not have extended warranty, I don't think the dealer will pay for that.
BTW, did you know OPDS sensor is for the side air bags cost about $200??

OPDS
They told me the same thing and I listended and paid like a sucker. A week later it came back on and I they told me now its a pad. I told them to reset the system and it stayed off.
Someonehas told me that putting metal objects on the seat such as a club will screw up the system and require a reset.

DIY Anyone?
I also paid $450+ for this OPDS sensor replacement. Someone mentioned the part is only 200, does anyone on here know how hard it is to install? I think it's about time we get a DIY going on this and stop giving the Dealers our hard-earner money. Or then again maybe I know nothing about this procedure and it's only for a qualifiied technician. Could someone shed some light on this?
