Ideas on Rotors

I wanted to know if anybody has changed their stock rotors to performance ones? IF so, do you like it, pros and cons about it. FRom what i read on it, it seems like it will help on the braking and keep it getting less dust and dirt in between brake pads and rotor, and etc. and of course it looks better as in style.. well i was thinking of getting these what you think? Its for my black type S and if you notice there is a pic of it installed on a car with rims kinda similiar like mines and so that why i like them. what you think:

Sc354 is organising a group buy on these directly from iRotors... check the black market or PM him... I think he only needs 2-3 more people.

I'm getting mine next week

I have irotors rotors and I've been happy with them, no complaints so far. Just make sure to get new brake pads too.

I took my SSM '03 TLS back to the dealer at 7K with warped rotors and they replaced them but I didn't want to have to baby the brakes all the time to avoid over heating the stock piece'o'crap rotors, so I switched mine out. I switched to dimpled drilled/slotted and Axxis metal master pads. WHAT A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT. I can now stand on the brakes repeatedly (And have for 15K) and they work awesome. I can stop on a dime and they never fade from repeated use when I drive them hard. Best mod I ever made. IMO.

I got the slotted Rotora rotors from www.streetbeatcustoms.com.

Total cost for front and back was about $302 (free shipping). I also ordered the silver caliper paint from them. Received them about 7 business days after I placed my order and they provided a UPS shipping number when they were shipped.

Ordered the Axxis Deluxe Plus pads from Brakewarehouse.com for approx. $67. They were rated better than the Metal Masters and generate less dust, last longer and are more rotor friendly.

Comparsion link below.

I am also going to bleed the brake fluid and replace with Valoline Synthetic. It is Dot3 & Dot4 compatable and easy to find.

Here is a link for Brake fluid comparisons

The main reason I went with Rotora instead of Irotors was because I only wanted the slotted and not the slotted and drilled. Sometimes the drilled rotors will crack and I didn't want to take the risk.

Either should be better than the OEM rotors.

Hey 69ssrscam,

I am from Cumming, Ga. Lived there most of my life until I took a job transfer to Chicago last year.

It is much harder to keep a clean car here with all the salt and crap they put on the roads in the winter. Also gives you more paint chips especially if you get caught behind one of the salt trucks.

just to verify the caliper is what holds the brake pads? If so, i want a black caliper that says acura on it. Even better if it says Type S. That would be hard to find i guess.

The caliper is what holds the brake pads. When you press the brake pedel the caliper pushed the pads against the rotor which is what stops your car.

Most people do not replace the calipers, however a lot of people do paint the calipers. You can get some caliper paint or some high temperature paint for the hardware store and paing whatever color you want. If you wanted Type S on your caliper you could create a stencil and paint that on as well.

Hey DJ5, Yea, I know what you mean about easier to keep the nasty off your car down here. And you're right about the cross drilled rotors. It can stress the metal and has been known to cause cracking on occaision. That's why I went with the dimple drilled. It doesn't go all the way through the rotor so it does not stress or weaken it nearly as much as a fill cross drill but still disipates the heat. Sorry you had to relocate. It's 75 outside right now :-)
