Icebox - Trimming Cover
Icebox - Trimming Cover
I am getting an Icebox but before I install it, I want to paint the top body color.
I was reading through the Installation Instuctions and they indicate;
Trim plastic shroud along grill and battery cover.
I sure don't want to paint the cover only to have to trim it when I install it.
What part of the Icebox shroud gets trimmed?

Itis not the icebox, but the front black plastic shroud which extends over the frame, radiator, and toward the front part of the battery. Paint the Icebox lid, but the install is tight, so expect a few scratches. As you will have to pull this lid every time you clean the filter, be warned the paint will get a little abused.
Good luck. The install is really pretty easy, no worries

With the icebox installed, you'll find that the area where hole is on the battery cover (the nub that sticks out on the right side where the screw goes up and through) with rub against the icebox, and it will be difficult to reinstall the cover and push the screw through. Maybe the instructions are telling you to sand down the nub a little bit for an easier fit. However, it is still possible, with a little coaxing, to push the screw through the battery cover, since the plastic bends.
The comptech icebox cover on my car hits against the, I believe, headlight. The shop that installed cut a 3" by 2" hole. Without the hole, the cover will not close properly. Pain in the butt when putting the cover back on after cleaning the filter if the hole is not big enough.
