I like the interior. Infinity is doing a good job on the interior and exterior styling. I like it.

Infiniti definately use better quality materials than Acura but you pay for it in a higher price. The pop up NAV screen is a nice touch. Mechanically, I still like the TL better. Nissan is still using a 4spd auto in the I35 and no variable value train in the new 3.5 engine.

It's a very nice car. Do you think it would be cheaper than TL-S?
I would prefer the TL-S if it's the same price.
The new grill is real nice, but the headlights are....let's just say the mistake mercedes made with the s class.

Notice that many design elements are now closer to the TL. Interesting...

Wow, a "strengthened" 4-speed auto. Impressive.... I agree with the S class headlight comment too.

I still don't like it. My TL still looks better.
BTW, the only thing I like is the automatic rear sunshade.
And it is beginning to sound a lot like the TL-S (in terms of power and other amenities).

because TL is the way to go. car makers try to keep up with the hottest product in the market, they analyze what makes it so popular and make their own cars with all the results they come up with. that's why we can see a lot "wanna-bes" and "look-alikes".

Acura does not market the RL to be in competition with the Q40 or the LS4x0. Let's put it this way. Acura does not have a car in that class until it decides to put a 4L V8 in a new sedan.

That's why the RL has a V6 and a much lower price tag.

........The RL is Acura's flagship as is the Q for Infiniti and LS for Lexus we all know this as fact. My point is this. Acura needs to be in that class and market the RL in this class. What is the cars direct competition right now? Lets be serious, it inevitably is lumped into a segment that it has no business in, and that is a segment where the average model has over 280hp. (bmw,mercedes/lexus/infiniti/audi}
.....A price increase is inevitable, just make it worth it. Do you really think they want to sell the RL for the unbelievable bargain price they are currently. They have to and often go much cheaper just to move the RL off the lot half the time.
.........If it wants it to be respected here in the U.S and possibly generate better sales numbers change is needed and Acura knows this.. I really doubt that Acura likes this so called "class of its own" best buy near luxury RL that it has on the market. ........Its a beautiful car please do not get me wrong, and I would drive it.... especially in the champagne or silver/blue, but a V8 and rear wheel drive will make it that much more appealing. It will also make it a player in the big leagues.
...We just got to admit it, Acura needs to play catch up , the competition is very fierce, and Nissan/Infiniti is making a major assualt on the luxury car segment. I love Acura, I just hate seeing them constantly shoot themselves in the foot, especially when you know the money, technology, and brains are their to come up with a major player in any of the various car markets. At the present time Acura need to revamp its thinking on the flagship, and once it does that. it will be time for a new TL, because lets face it , the 2002 TL is not a completely new model. A new grill, oversized headlamps, fog lights, amd new tails, are all something you could have slapped on the old model, along with the slight freshening up of the interior...and the revised 2002 RL i will not even comment on, except i would not mind the new brushed alloys on my 97 TL.

Sorry I totally disagree, sitting in the current I30 and even the new Q45. I felt Nissan was cutting cost/corners with cheaper materials. The dash and interior trim pieces felt cheap in comparison to my Tl and my friend with a Lexus ES300 who was with me at the car show felt exactly the same way.

All this preview does, is draw me closer and closer to Infinit. Nissan/Infiniti has really woken up this time. Now if they would only do something with the crappy G 20.They are revamping every other model it seem like. The new Altima even looks kinda hot, and i have never noticed that car really.
........Unless this much speculated and talked about serious about business new Acura RL comes out, with a v8 matching or beating the 340 horsepower of the new Q, I will definately be jumping onto a bandwagon that i am pretty sure is about to start. That of Infiniti's.
........I mean yeah they have issues, but Nisaan had really done an about face. It was ony a couple years ago, when Nissa was in so much trouble financially near bankruptcy, that they could not come up with anything worth buying. That all changed. Infiniti has two more models coming along with i dunno how many from Nissan.
..Acura is getting its ass whipped and I am getting annoyed. Now the Infiniti matches the horsepower of the Type-s, and they have A V8 super luxo ride, that the RL right now cannot even think of being compared in any way too........
.......Also I got the new automobile magazine, previewing the next NSX. Looks sweet has 350hp but no V8. Now if Acura puts this same v6 in the next RL, even though it has 350hp, Acura will have confirmed an Infinit in my driveway in a year or too. ACURA WHERES THE DAMN V8

I agree about Honda needing a V8 for the flagship. Making a lot of power from smaller V6 engines sound great but will not be treated with respect in the American marketplace.

Acura has made a wrong move from the very beginning by introducing luxury cars that are one step up from the ordinary Japanese offerings, not two steps up like the Lexus and the Infinity cars.

There is also a big problem with Acura's brand identity too. Take a look at Lexus. The appearances of the LS and the ES have been more or less the same ever since their introductions. Now people see them and know they are Lexus. They are willing to spent more money buying Lexus cars because they know their cars will still look the same many years down the road.

However, Legend/RL and Vigor/1G TL/2G TL and 1G/2G/3G Integra all look different across the years. Even the most important Acura logo is different in different car lines. It is good that Acura has finally picked the pentagon shape logo to be used in all car lines. (But please don't use the pentagon benchmark on Honda cars, like the CR-V and the Civic type-R !) People wanting to buy luxury cars will look elsewhere because they are not sure how long the current look will last.

I think not only Acura has to build a V8-powered RWD flagship and NSX to boost its brand image, it also has to keep dramatic changes in model appearances to a minimal.
