Post Calling all WW lip spoiler owners

Just wondering how you guys attached the spoiler to your cars, did you guys use the bolts, or is the adhesive good enough? Thanx in advance

I think it was designed to use both. The 3M tape is for adhesion, dirt sealant, and as a gasket to protect the trunk service. The 4 bolts provide additional holding power. It might seem excesive, but for something that is supposed to be a permanent part of your car, using both methods of attachment is highly recommended.

I agree too. I just installed mine on Sunday and would definitely recommend using the bolts in addition to the adhesive.

Use both. If u just use double sided tape, someone can easly rip it off.
The bolt holes match with oem so u might as well use it

If I remember correctly, the holes for the WW spoiler are a little(~2-3mm) offset towards the front of the car. To be safe, disregard the indentions for the factory spoiler and then test fit and mark new holes for the WW spoiler.

You're right Vincent. I drilled mine last weekend and had to extend the holes a little to get it to line up. The holes on the spoiler were actually a little forward and to the outside of the factory marks.

Thanx guys. My spoiler will be done on wednesday, but due to work I wont be able to pick it up till Sat!! What a bummer. Maybe if I get off work early.

For some reason my body shop guy had trouble with it. When he painted and baked the spoiler he got indentations from airbubbles all over the spoiler, so now he is redoing it and letting it airdry in between coats. Thanx again guys

Any old drill bit should do fine. I installed a spoiler on my last car without any problems. A few tips though.

One is to put masking tape on the trunk lid in the spot you are going to be drilling. The drill bit will have a strong tendency to slide on the slick surface, and you dont want to accidentally have the drill bit slip scratching your whole trunk.

Two is to draw the template directly on to the car using a water soluble marker. (why doesnt WW include templates?? My last spoiler came with one, and all it was was a piece of paper which would end up costing nothing)

Three is to coat the newly drilled holes with touch up paint around the edges so no rust can develop. If you dont have access to paint some poeple have said you can even use clear nail polish.

Good Luck, take your time, and I wouldnt do it unless you have help from at least one friend to prevent scratches to your trunk or spoiler from positioning and repositioning again and again.
