I need suggestions PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need help finding a CD Changer for my 1999 Acura TL. Preferably one that plays cd-r's, but it doesn't matter. Is there any cd changers that go in the glove compartment box? That would really help, my father has a lexus and it has the cd changer in the glove compartment box. That is so much easier. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO GET OUT OF YOUR SEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, I was just wondering if there is one like that. Please let me know if there is and where I can get one. Please help!!!!!!!!!!
Why don't you just get an 02-03 TL radio (in dash 6 disc) ? It's OEM and looks nice, and you don't even have to bend to the glove compartment. I believe they should fit your TL w/ out a problem. Not sure if you have Navi or not. If you don't it should fit fine. Do some research to confirm.
Thanks!!!!!!
Thank you. I saw one on ebay, I'm about to buy it. To install it, am I going to have to remove the stupid cd holder above the radio? (Please say yes because that holder was a bad idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
nope, youre stuck with it as far as i know. that cd holder goes away if you have navi. the temp controls go in its place....
so if you wanna get rid of it, do the navi conversion while youre doing the cd player conversion

The OEM head unit in the 2nd gen TL's is junk. It sounds horrible and is not reliable.
If you want the convenience of a lot of music on hand without flipping discs then go buy an aftermarket HU that plays MP3/ WMA files from CD-R or USB. You can write over 700 minutes of music onto a disc, which is more than that changer can hold.
My personal preference is Alpine because I've had 3 (deciding now which model will be my 4th) and they each lasted for years (as in decades) of hard use. Plus they sound good for a car stereo. If you'd like to keep the steering wheel controls there is an adapter available for the CDA-9857 model and above ($60). Alpine also sells an adapter ($160) to hook USB devices to any unit with the AI-Net interface. I'm contemplating that add on since 2gb and 4gb flash drives are pretty cheap now. Actually the center console looks like a good place to mount a hard drive and I have a 40gb laying around doing nothing right now.
Do some research, the above is just my opinion. There are dozens of car stereo manufacturers and all of them offer about the same features and options. Professional installation services are abundant these days if you don't want to tackle it yourself.
The one thing I don't recommend is putting in that heretical piece of OEM junk in your car. For god's sake man, think of the children!
