Unhappy I know I screwed up.....

I let a girl from my MBA class drive my '01 TL the other night. I figured it might be safe since she drove a '98 CL. She had it in Tiptronic then tried to bump it back into normal drive and pushed it up into Neutral and revved the s**t out of it. The engine light then came on for about 5 minutes. Did she do any damage??? The car runs fine but mainly psychological for me. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!

What were you thinking letting a GIRL drive your car.

I say take it to the dealer and tell them the engine light came on while you were driving.

yeah, what he said

I think the car should be fine. that's why there's a rev limiter even in neutral (so I hear)- to protect against damage.

you see thats the problem, after 3 1/2 hours of High Tech Marketing I wasn't thinking. I didn't hear the engine reach the rev limiter and shut off like I have heard in my Integra. But then again, I was so pissed off at the time and trying to hide my irritation. Once again, NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!

Wayne,

Any suggestion on the possible over rev on my '01 TL? Save me a phone call and I think I would get an honest answer out of you.

I appreciate it.

WRONG! especially if she's your gf! what you gonna do, dump her? aehaehaehaeha and if you yell at her, you end up making it up to her, and depending how hard it is to satisfy her, it can cost you lots of $$$

Acura-Fan- I seriously doubt that any damage was done. Our cars have rev limiters for just such a reason. The check engine light probably came on because the computer detected that the car was moving, the throttle was depressed but the transmision switch was indicating neutral for a certain period of time. Since you say the car is fine now- I wouldn't worry about it. It is a common mistake- both men and women make. Just educate anyone who is going to drive your car about the proper way to use the sport shift. Relax and enjoy your car

GF can be replaceable, but TL can be traded too!!!.

BTW, why are you letting someone that you do not really know that well touch your car.

You had a choice, I didn't. Wife is not that disposable.

You can divorce her.
I'm sorry. That was cheap. You can yell at me now.

Agreed. I make it a point not to drive anyone else's (expensive) cars either. Friendships can be ruined in a split second!

Does she hate you??

I doubt there was any damage done to your engine. Just try not to do it again.

While driving on the freeway, I was reaching for my cellphone in the little cointray area and accidentally bumped my gear to Neutral. I didnt even notice it until i was slowing down cause my music was loud. I was like CRAP!!!!!. But it's been normal since.

Wayne, thanks for the info and reassurance

I have certainly learned my lesson and will be a little more selective as to who drives it. I dont think any damage was done to the car but I wanted to double check.

It wasn't the nookie factor that made me let her drive the car it was the possibility of future employment with her and her company. Anybody else would have gotten a beat down for their actions.

Everybody enjoy their weekends.
