first. do u need to have a MT to have a blow-off valve?
second. if u dont, is it possible to put in a blow-off vavle before u put in ur turbo...so u just have the noise when ur car shifts gears?cuz i love that "turbo" noise

 

BOV's are to vent off any excess pressure in your intake so you don't overboost your engine. In a car without a turbo or super, you have a vacuum. In turbo or supercharged cars, you have a possitive pressure (boost). It is impossible for a n/a engine to have possitive pressure (thus a use for a BOV)

As for BOV's and transmission...you can have a BOV in either one. It serves more of a purpose in a manual though.

The the "turbo noise" you speak of is the BOV. Of course the turbo itself gives off a whistle or a little whine (depending on what kind of turbo is used)

So to answer your questions:

1. No, you don't *have* to have a manual to have a BOV.

2. And while you can physically put a BOV on an n/a engine, it will do absolutly nothing other than be a waste of $150-$400. It won't make a sound or anything.

haha...there was something on ebay that was basically a speaker that made a bov type noise. little to rice for my taste, but do an ebay search if youre interested.

somebody posted it here a few weeks back

 

As much as I don't like it....there is an option out there if you really want it. It involves a little black box with a pre-recorded BOV sound and it being wired to a loud speaker under the hood.

I don't know the URL off the top of my head but it's been talked about before on the TL board. I'm sure a quick search would turn it up.

Oh, I also thought I might mention this. The sound of a BOV does attract cops when cruising around the city. Trust me on this.

 

Oh yeah, just wait till a turbo Supra hears that noise coming from your car and smokes you up and down the road.

Why not spend your money on something that actually makes horsepower?

nsxnext...we are talking about a dirt cheap 20$ bro...i just want something to counter the noise i have from my aem intake...when it revs high it roars..when i let off the gas i wanna hear the whistle just for my own pleasure..and i am saving up for something that adds more HP...but wut am i gonna get from saving 20$...seriously...just a lil toy to play wit

 

 

$20 is alot to many people maybe. i know its alot for me since i need all that i can save. but to each its own. if you liek it get it. its ur money.
