Talking I got the JDM bug...

ok guys! so i've been here a few days but it hit me and I got the inspire bug! so i went to my local jdm/tuning shop and ordered/purchased some stuff for my tl.

Here's what I got:
Inspire front grill
Chrome H logo for grill
Red H "type R" logo for the back
Inspire lettering for the back
SiR badge for the corner where the 3.2TL used to be (it's not 100% JDM, but I like it there)
Full JDM bumper with fog kit
RonJon Integra Black with Red accent wheels
and Tien SS shocks to lower the damn thing an inch or so

Really excited, the car's gonna get repainted NBP when the kit arrives and the engine cover will no longer be painted blue (like I said in the engine DIY page) but a ridiculous green because I returned the blue and got the green caliper paint (I know it clashes with the red accent, but the red is so minimal and the rim covers alot of the caliper. and I just REALLY wanted green calipers)

so i'll post pics when everything arrives and it's all done, but I had to post to thank everyone because I would never have gotten out and actually spent all the money (I had to spend a chunk of savings) without all of you!

RonJon Integra? what? lol....

and you could've probably saved a lot of money shopping around more... SMART shopping.....

haha thankss
ahhh i need to edit that...It's the legend (lol knew it was an old acura product)

I have the rest of the SS things (springs, coilovers etc.) from my old civic, so far as I can tell they will fit nicely

and I know all about the red H and SiR (it's actually the red one from the SiR-T accord) but I mean I enjoy it and in the end, it is my ride no?

and I got a pretty decent deal, I was looking at all the online stores and their prices and the shop was maybe 100-120 bucks total more and they said they'd install the kit and suspension pieces so I consider that a great deal.

I just wanted to stay away from being ricey, and personally I don't think a red H badge and an SiR-T badge are gonna do it especially when everything else is nice and JDM (and the rims are pretty legit too IMO)

your car will be rice if you do that. Civic coils/shocks/springs are not interchangeable with your TL.

@hockeyman, Thanks! i'll look into it!

@HBaJ, yeah I know it most definitely isn't right but I thought the badge was cool and sheesh! I didn't know everyone had a huge problem with one emblem! you guys make me wanna just not put it on :-(
the proper respray isn't cheap :-( i got quoted $950 from a paint shop...I was thinking if I bought the paint I might do it myself but irregardless I always have a quote from them so if nothing else I'll bite the bullet

Glad you're excited about your mods. But impulse buying is not smart IMO.

Seeing a car modded over time is more worthwhile than buying everything all at once and slapping it on.

^yeah I hear ya, gets costly. If you think about it I only got a few things though, rims, kit and suspension. the badges are just...badges

as for the paint, it's been on the list for the car for almost 3 years; paint and bodywork. just figured if I have to replace the bumpers anyways i might as well get ones I like :-D

I'd say the rims were the real impulse...those are going to hurt the wallet as my pops is paying for the paint (birthday gift, I guess everyone deserves them even when they are in their mid 20s!)

Keep us update on your JDM process.
I will agree it's hard find some JDM stuff for our TL. (Front bumper w/ foglights, Saber or Inspire Grille, Mugen 3pc spoiler or A-spec spoiler)
Some other stuff on the other hand are easy to find. (INSPIRE lettering, 32v Badge, Rear "H", Modulo Emblem, American Honda Eagle emblem)

P.s. Do you know How Much they want Front bumper an foglights for ??

^ JDM bumper for the 99-01 TL has actual cut-out space for fog lights. The 02-03 USDM bumper has allocation for fog lights (which were standard issue during the mid-cycle product refresh of the 2nd gen TL).

I'm sure if you did a proper search, you could see what I mean about the fog lights cut into the bumper.

Now ... going back to the original poster, you are going to get some flack from board members and some of the mods you are going to apply. Adding 'SiR' and red "H" logo badging (even if they are true Honda Access product) -- some are going to wave the 'rice' flag since that is a badge that was not an original badge found on the JDM Inspire/Saber.

As long as you like what mods you want to add, who cares what other people think? Your money -- you do what you want with it. Personally, I would advise you if you want true JDM, add the proper badging. Don't install badges that belong on the Civic as opposed to the Inspire/Saber.

that cuz he has shorter springs.. which you have to buy separately... not worth it IMO.. besides.. he's planning on selling the Teins cuz they're too soft and make him bottom out being that low with teins.. and no on instructors....

Thank you. I don't live in Cali where there is a huge jdm scene. no one (outside of azine) is going to notice/care, my car isn't going to be flashy so no one around here is going to be like "oh man, nice rims!" or any of that nonsense. and if I wanted that, I wouldn't have a TL no? along with that, yeah I think they will look good, and in all honesty if they don't, all I lost was some glue and i'll pop them on my civic or sell them to someone.

I mean, one of my fav 2g's (jj you know who) has A badging to go along with his inspire jdm conversion....

that't to mean that people in upstate new york (albany area) love tuned german sedans and suv's with chromed out rims.

I have a TL, why would I want to put anything bigger than 20's on it? it would look out of place...

Here are my personal feedback, this is what I would think if I saw a car with this on the road, this is not to bash on your buys bro

Full JDM bumper with fog kit -
RonJon Integra Black with Red accent wheels - do you have a pic? what color is your car, nbp right?
and Tien SS shocks to lower the damn thing an inch or so

and I know all about the red H and SiR (it's actually the red one from the SiR-T accord) but I mean I enjoy it and in the end, it is my ride no? - I understand it is your ride and you do what you like, but you dont want to add things on that dont have no meaning, inspire badge is good because it is an inspire, SiR it is not.
Good like bro, looking forward to seeing the JDM bumper and foglights, thats one thing I would buy if I owned a 99-01 for sure.

i don't know, but their called apg motorsports and their in albany, ny

i'm sure you could look up a phone number or something

rob, the guy i bought everything through, told me that he knows suppliers in japan. they were big on civics and I got some things done to my SI (04' hatchback) from them a few years ago (cold air, 17in integra rims, suspension bits, etc. etc.) so i knew they'd be the one's who'd help me out.

parts should be here in a week or so
