Post I drove the new Q45 yesterday!

I stopped in at a southern California Infinity dealer yesterday and they had a demo Q45. The car is not available yet, but they had one there. The salesman took me for a spin and then, much to my surprize, he agreed to let me drive it. This car is very very nice. You guys have got to check it out. 350 horse power...man, the car was f#*@king fast! 60 MPH in 5.9 seconds, and its very large. The car reminds me of the old Lexus GS300 from the side, but the rest is totally different. It's got an amazing navi system that lets you choose the angle of the aerial view...so it can look like you're on an airplane making your approach, or directly overhead.

The car has a very cool cruise control system that has the ability to sense when you get too close to another car, or if someone cuts in front of you...the car will adjust and slow down to allow for a safe distance...and its programmable depending on how safe you want to be.

All in all a very fun experience and a car worth watching. I don't think I'd want to be one of the first to get one though because its got a lot of technology on it...like a rear mounted camera that automatically appears on the navi when you put the car in reverse.

Thumbs up

Sounds very nice... but since I will not be getting a new car for another 2 and a half years no point in going to the dealer and drooling...

My father had a Q45 back in the mid 90s and I loved it. You could be going over 100 in that car and it felt like you were going 55. Also the acceleration was unexpected for a car of that size and weight. I'll have to convince him to go drive one and let me drive it as well. I don't think the Infiniti dealership would believe a 22 year old is interested in buying a Q45, so they probably wouldn't let me drive it.

Yeah, I'm 36 and I think the salesman definitely thought I was a prospect. I was really stunned that he let me drive it. Nobody's driven this car yet.

Ever play with the head lights on those things? You can change the pitch and it's got an automatic sunshade thing in the back.
