I'm thinking about doing window tint in the near future and was wondering how much the average was...

I dont really know much about tint but 35% is the legal limit in NC and I was thinking 25%, not drug dealer looking but dark enough

how much tint did you guys go and how much was it? oh and what did you do about the front and rear windshield?

 

I did 20% all around with nothing on the front windshield. It didn't cost me anything as I got it as a gift. But when I was checking on price, it was about $220.

 

Damn thats expensive. I got mine done for $120. 35% all around except front windshield. It depends on what kind of tint film you get on your windows. They have really nice brand name ones with a mirror finish that costs like $400.

If you like doing car stuff, I would try it yourself. I regret not trying mine myself.

70% is legal here in NYC YEAH 70% thats like nothing. I would go with 20% if legal limit 35% there.

35% is like you can almost see clearly inside in the daytime and at night time, it is a little darker but people will still be able to sorta clearly see your face. Thats why I got it cause I didn't wanna get pulled over everyday and get hit with 4 fines for each window for about $200 each. $800 total. NYC don't play games.

Most shops will not have 25% but 20% and that is dark enough to not be able to see your face and looks really nice. I would get 20% if NC isn't that strict about tints.

And don't tint the front windshield. Even though it looks really nice, that is just asking to get pulled over and to get into accidents.

 

On my TL, I had 20% all around, nothing on the front windshield ... for about C$160 (this was 2002).

On my G, 35% all around (nothing on front windshield) ... C$180. Make sure to get a good brand of tint ... (solargard, etc) ...

 

try going to local tint shop, get product and price info from 3

ck your STATE laws- some allow a stop just for tints.. on driver window!

cops are cracking down on tint because its too easy for drivers to have a gun hidden and ready~ watch the news,,,

I have 20% on the backs and have to roll down the rear windows in dark places backing out- to see to the sides

 

i work with cops and am planning on going into law enforcement
i know the risk with it thats why i am looking at nothing too drastic
i think 20% sounds good, I'll be going to shops today to get quotes

 

went to three different places and most expensive was 280, middle was 179 and then least was 135. all came with lifetime warranties. the one that was 135 was closest to where i live and used the same stuff as the expensive one.

 

mine was 200 with 20% all around except for windsheild.
got a ticket for $25 and $15 to remove the tint front the front 2 windows
and tinted the fronts again for $60

so altogether cost me 300. you gotta pay to play haha

 

$130 for all windows (exc. w/shield), 35% which is legal limit in KY although I see a lot of tints darker than this.

 

$175 for all windows + windshield strip. i went with 35% cus NY cops are crazy (and mad racist). i drive by cops all the time with 35 and get no harassment.

 

I got 20% all around excluding windshield. It cost me $250, i got the most expensive film (dont remember what it's called... titanium or some ish like that. they had 3 choices for film $150(would turn purple), $220(stays black, quality is good), $280(will never turn purple, a high UV rating) i bargained n got $30 off and taxes) Anyways, 20% was more than enough for the first few months, now i wish i got 15%. DONT DONT mix and match tint percentages, every time i see it it looks like balls.

i got mine done on the side by a manager of a local tint shop for $70.

25% all around, its been almost 3 years now and its still holding up fine.

 

LoL...On my 99 TL i originally went 30% all around(including whole windshield), then i got bored one day and put 5% over the 30% on all the windows and left the windshield 30%.

hard to see at night...paid 140 originally, DIY on the extra layer

 

140 for 5% all around. As has already been said check local laws on tint, i've been pulled over twice in 2 years for just my tint.

 

$115 w/o tax for 5 windows any tint color. I went with a 17% Rears 35% Front combo.

 

i paid in the mid-$100s for 35% all around except windshield. wish i would have gone darker though.

Doors and rear window were $100 for 30%. 35 is legal in Indiana. This was done by an employee of a tint place on his own time .

agreed. i did 180$ for like 30% or something. forgot what our city legal limit was at that time. anyway. it's been around 5-6yrs now. it's held up pretty well, but like FirePR2002, i wish i had gone darker too
