Well i found a TL pretty cheap price. They said it needs a new timing chain. i'm wondering how much one of those are. thanx

Here is a list of parts that should be replaced when servicing the timing belt:

timing belt (14550-PGE-A01) $37.90
cam seals (91213-P8A-A01) $4.42 x 2
valve cover gaskets (12341-P8A-A00) $5.20 x 2
spark plug tube seals (12342-P8A-A01) $1.55 x 6
power steering belt (56922-P8A-A01) $9.72
a/c belt (38920-P8C-A02) $9.48

parts total = $85.64

The Acura flat rate time for replacing the timing belt and both cam seals is 3.7 hours. The average labor rate is $65/hour.

labor total = $240.50

total = $326.14

The price may be slightly higher/lower depending on the labor rate in your area, but this should give you an idea of the cost.

 

Not familiar with the TL engine but is the water pump still behind the timing belt? If so, it's a good time to replace it too. Also, don't forget the timing belt tensioner/idler.

Home I'm not speaking out of turn, I'm speaking from experience on my old Legend. Is the TL timing belt setup much different?

 

Good idea to replace the water pump too. My mechanic in KC charges ~$480 for 4 belts (timing, alternator, balancer, something else) on my 92 accord. Her rates are the same for TL's
