how much to get new brakes?

Hey guys, I have a 2002 TLS and I got some new brake pads on the front and back and also the mechanic said he machined my rotors, I'm not so sure what that means. How much do you guys think that should of cost? He charged me $336 for it. I was thinking that was high, but I'm not sure. Anyone know what the price range should be around? Thanks

I actually called the acura dealership and they said 310 for just brake pads for the front and rear. They didn't say anything about machined rotors.......I don't even know what that means.

Here are the stock pads quote:

Acura TL (All) (Front) 99-03 $39.60/set
Acura TL (All) (Rear) 99-03 $50.15/set

Source: http://www.ahmotor.com/product/ahmcat1bp.html

Resurfacing job is like 1 hr job. Replacement for the pads is like 1hr job. so for 1 hr job. So 2hrs at $60/hr is $120 + $90 is $210.

The $200 range sounds just about right I need to get rear brake pads soon. At my last oil change they told me I needed rear brake pads. The service advisor gave me a price of $170 & said I had about 10% on them but it could be done at the next oil change that is do about now. I just got the dicount off coupons specials from the dealer today in the mail. They are good untill the end of the month so I will get the stuff done soon.

You have a 2002 TLS and need to have work done on your brakes already? Mine is a 1999 and I haven't had to do any brake work yet (knock on wood)? How hard do you drive, man?

Well, I have an '03 TLS and my brakes are vibrating at high speeds....probably don't need new brakes, just probably need to machine the rotors. It all depends on mileage and what type of driving (city/highway) driving the person does..........

I bought my car in April of '02 and already have 27k miles.....the way I drive, my rotors lasted longer than they have in any of my past cars (not that 27k and warped rotors is good!!)
