How many people with NO tranny problems?

Hi all,
I'm thinking about getting a 2000 TL with extended warranty and I wanted to see how many 2nd generation owners were experiencing no problems (with transmission). Please post current miles and any other pertinent information. Also, in a semi-off-topic question, the asking price is $17800, is this a fair price? It's got Navi and 54k miles on it (Plus the 7 year/100,000 mile warranty).
Thanks.

I just paid 19k for my 2002 TL-s with OEM ground kit, plus it was a certified. The 7/100,000 is not in addition to the miles you already have on it.

I bought my 2000 TL with navi, with 70 K miles on it in march, allready ve put 20 K on it, no tranny problems, knock on wood, for 11K. My car is under the tranny recall, which i came to know after i called the local dealership to check my cars VIN, its going in on the 10th to get checked, they will let me know if they are gonna replace the tranny or install the oil jet kit in it.

My folks have an '03 TL with no tranny problems.

OTOH, they had a V6 Accord ('99 I believe) that had tranny problems.

2003 TL-S
Build Date: Dec 2002
Purchased New: April 2003
1st Trasmission Dead @ 35K, replaced with Oil Jet squirter and refurbished transmission.

(pros)
Great family hauler and grocery getter.
Great straight acceleration for a family sedan.

(cons)
Sunroof rattles (fixed)
warped rotors (replaced)
inside door panel loose (fixed)
center console loose (fixed)
weak brakes
FWD predictability and TITANIC SUPER WIDE turning radius.
A Yugo or a Daihatsu will out corner and maneuver you in the twisties.
TRANSMISSION: Hit or Miss, take your chances.

All in all a great family sedan worth driving.

I had no probs. one thing to note is that you dont have to be in warranty to get it fixed, there's a recall out now, so if it gets fucked it's payed for. you should take it in to have it checked for the recall and they can install a fix. So far nobody has complained about the oil jet fix.

Hello again,
Thanks for all the posters, keep 'em coming. But please keep in mind I only want people with NO problems with their transmissions. Thx.
As far as I know, there are no mods. I think I'm gonna get it.

Original owner of '00 TL. Five years old (early build '00) with 68,000 mi. No problems. Just came back from dealer for the trans recall. It passed the inspection and they installed the oil jet kit.

Regarding that asking price, I'd check sites such as edmunds.com and kbb.com. Also, do an "advanced search" for similar vehicles at cars.com. Then you can make an informed decision that's right for you.

PS
I did a quick cars.com search. You can see if it works for you: http://www.cars.com/go/search/fs_sea...l&aff=national

I've had my '02 ABP TLS since August of 2001, and never had any tranny problems with it. I'm just about to hit 45k and the only problem I had was a bad idle valve at about 18k. All other problems have been cosmetic.(KNOCKING ON WOOD)

02 TL/S with NAVI - bought new in November of 2001 - 37,750 miles on it now - 90% highway miles - no transmission issues - at 15K and at 30K I drained and replaced the ATF with Honda ATF-Z1 - Fluid color looked good both times - I will definitely do a complete transmission transmission 'flush' at 45K - when slowing down past 40 mph, transmission downshifts and it feels like someone pulled a parachute (a slight exaggeration, but it is noticable) - did not get the recall letter yet, but when I do, I will take it in

That tugging feeling is the tranny downshifting to help slow you down....i think it's part of the grade logic control system....only reason i don't like it is because of people who are unfamiliar with acuras (everyone) they'll think i'm not smooth and applied unevening braking pressure or something.....it's perfectly normal though.....my tranny has gotta a bit rougher than when it was new.

BTW- i have an 03 SSM TL-S Nav, almost 20,000 tranny still good, *knocks on wood, bangs on wall, bangs pots and pans...etc*.....hope it stays okay.

I'm on my third tranny on my 2002. The dealer was only willing to replace it the first time. I've spent over $7,000 on my own replacing the other two. I would not even consider the TL if I were you.
