how many miles you getting to a tank
How many miles are you guys getting out of 1 fill up. I calculated that i was only getting like 13 miles to gal. Which doesn't seem right

mine has a wide range depending if I do a lot of freeway or city. But i have an app and ive been inputting my gas records since august and im averaging just over 19mpg. So it aint to great. Ive done seafoam and other things but i rarely see over 20 unless i do a majority of freeway driving

lucas is good if used as 1 bottle to 1/4 tank,,more gas than that and not much effect
seafoam really works (or bg or wynss) if more than 60k miles replace the spark plugs
New air filters and keep tire pressure correct, not the funky 32psi
but actual calculated percentage of weight and air pressure for that weight
easy on the gas pedal in town- like an egg is under it- a raw egg,
use cruise control when conditions are safe - that really helps
let off gas approaching red light, coast when possible-

could need EGR port cleaning of the intake manifold- that will mess up the mileage and rough engine running
needs to be done approx 75kmiles- see diy for pics of recent finds

I average 23-26mpg highway miles. I only drive on the highway (>5% city). I changed my air filter and cabin filters. This DID make a significant improvement. I only go like 18-22 mpg before. The most I have gone on a full tank is 375 miles. If you get over 400 miles that's really freaking good.
13mpg seems ridiculously low...try calculating that again.

+1. i just did a basic EGR port cleaning recently. due to unforeseen problems taking off the TB from the IM, i was only able to clean so much, but i was still able to get a lot of junk out of the ports. ive instantly noticed better/smoother idle & even possibly better gas mileage. i guess it's too soon to tell as of yet, but i think it's helped a bit...

The most i've ever gotten is 315 miles per tank...I was "driving like an old man"...according to my dad...I never shifted past 2000rpm... Im thinking about doing some Seafoam and EGR port cleaning soon.

you are actually hurting yourself with below 2000 rpm shift points
The engine likes to run up betwen 2500 and 3500 to get the mass of metal moving
Once going, it cruises and coast- getting to speed is the hard part
Let the power and Torque do their job by giving them room to work
Try it a few tanks and see if mileage changes
Also anyone with 60kmiles or more should do a complete seafoam (or similar) cleaning of the intake, gas tank and oil. Free'r running pistons = less internal drag
A week later replace the spark plugs- NGK IRIDIUM ONLY

yes on cruising in 5th as long as you aren't lugging the engine or anything (but at normal street speed that shouldn't be a problem)
NO to anything in the transmission case except the Honda/Acura ATF-Z1 (some people use Amsoil I think but you can't go wrong with the OEM fluid in this case). Other than that, NO NO NO!

I average 21 mpg on winter gas and 23-24 on summer gas, which equates to between 300-330 miles per tank. I do notice a drop when tire pressure is off and after I clean the air filter I notice a 2-3 mpg bump.

nothing in the trans but honda fluid
yes- use reasonable throttle --1/3 throttle- to get to speed then let it cruise
Use cruise control when practical in town and freeway
On steep hills or in stop and go traffic use D4 so trans stays out of 5 and wont hunt for it constantly- remember to go back to D5 when traffic clears
More than once its a bit later before I notice the rpm is not right! oh 5th dededee

type S has 35 more HP, higher compression, a different cam and intake profile for power,,drivers may tend to enjoy that more~ and use a bit of gas in the process
but overall- clean the required places and parts- new plugs if over 60kmiles on them
and the mileage should be in the 20s average, much higher on freeway trips
some who report extreme miles `per tank` are using it to empty not just to the low light
Knowing your car allows you to do that- the rest should fill at the warning--approx 2.5 useable gallons remain at that point

amazing tips are in the owner manual~
sadly -acura used to have them free online but have changed that link

if the gap was off that far the electrode is worn away and its time for new plugs
Book allows for up to 105 and do plugs with the timing belt job, but its been found that any TL with over 60k miles is ready for new plugs
These require a special type of adjuster too, and only if bent on arrival-
in that case return plug to store for replacement

seafoam or wynns or bg thru the gas tank and intake manifold vac port at TB
with 117 you are really overdue for egr and all intake cleaning

hopefully you followed the correct diy for vac port at TB and half to 3/4 can in there, 1 can in 1/2 tank of gas--those get fast results
#37
Yeah, I got the right Vac port and put half the can in there, and half the can in the gas tank, but it had, a little less than 1/2 tank of fuel left. Results were instant in throttle response.

Ls- use seafoam at 2 ounces per gallon fuel- so a 16oz can in half tank- 8 gallons
thats a super cleaning dose
You did 1 oz to 1 gal which is a maitenance dose you can do midyear to keep things clean
Give it another hit with a the super dose and it will pay you back
I say to use 1/2 tank method as those who try 1/2 can in 1/4 tank dont run the tank down very far- usually to the light and 3 gallons remaining- they add gas and dilute the entire mix well below 3/4 oz per gal fuel- the lowest level seafoam says is effective
Do it with more and get better results
