Lightbulb How let TL automatically lock the doors when start engine.

Does anyone know how to let TL automatically
lock the doors when you start the engine and
unlock the doors when you turn off the engine?
I know Toyota Camry can do that. I think for
TL, it should do it better. But why I have to
manually lock my doors when I drive ?

Anyone can help?

if you get an after market alarm it can do that for you. when I had my prelude it used to do that, other than that not really sure how. then again its not really that hard to hit the lock button on your car everytime you get in.

Thats' true Chinaman, but for the convenience....my jeep grand cherokee limited

I know what you are talking about MVMD, my Ford Windstar locked the doors as soon as you went above 5mph. I'm sure someone will figure it out...

I think the simplest way is just to get an aftermarket car alarm. If that's not desirable, then tap into the "ON" position of the keyswitch. Let that trigger a "one shot" (a monostable multivibrator) which activates a relay that you hook-up to your door lock wires. Have a duplicate setup that detects the falling edge of the "ON" signal to trigger another "one shot" and activate the relay to unlock the doors. You don't need to worry about locking your keys in the car since the stock locking logic won't allow the doors to lock if the key is in the ignition and either front door is open. This setup can be complicated when you're playing around with the different voltages of the car and the circuitry.

Yeah, second thought, just get a car alarm.

Yes as said you can have this feature with some aftermarket alarms. I have this on my Clifford alarm that was installed the day after I got my TL.I have had it over a year now & the doors lock at about 15MPH.It also has the feature to unlock the doors when you cut the car off. I had this feature part turned off. I felt that I did not want the doors to unlock all the time when I cut the car off.

FTM is an alarm nut. But I don't blame him considering he's in DC!
