How HOT are they supposed to get?

When i pulled into my driveway i felt my rims and they were on FIRE! i know that they get hot, but, how hot do they get? Does anyone know if the heat will melt my centering rings?

Yeah, I've had my rims be extremely hot... I changed my lug nuts once after a drive and they were burning up! Not sure if its normal or good though, I drive like a maniac.

Well considering it's Africa hot here in Jerzee, I would imagine they would get pretty hot.

Just whatever you do, don't spray them with the hose.

If you think they're hot don't even think about touching the brake rotor they are attached to.

Have you ever watched a NASCAR (I am in NC, you know.) night race where you can see the rotors glowing orange as they go through the corners and then the lug nuts are smoking when they remove them in the pits?

I don't think the heat will melt your centering rings. They are in their element and designed to be heated.

They get quite hot during normal driving as well. Just a few applications of the brakes is all that's necessary. The wheels are mounted to the brake rotor hats... and iron rotors conduct heat pretty well...
