Post How to get door panels off on 02' TL-S?

Moderators: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I just wasn't sure if the 02 TL and TL-S door panels were the same.

Anyone: Has anyone *SAFELY* removed their door panels for the purpose of replacing the stock Bose speakers in the doors? If so, any tips would be appreciated. I don't want to cause any permanent damage to my week-old TL-S!!! Also, does anyone know the size of the stock speakers, and how much room you have to play with in there? THANKS MUCH!!!

AC

P.S. - if this topic is redundant (likely, sorry ), then someone just point me in the right direction!

Maybe you should have professional installation place do this for you. It's pretty expensive car to mess around with when you are not sure what to do.

I've replaced everything but the Bose h/u and there are numerous posts, all the details are there: spkr size & depth, removing door panels, etc.

Hmmm...I thought the stock speakers were 6" - oh well, I just ordered 2 pairs of the Infinity 52.1 Kappas. I plan on just replacing the speakers and nothing more, to see how far that gets me. I'm not out to make some big nasty ghetto system, just want to fix the bad characteristics of the stock speakers (terrible resonances in the upper midrange, nearly devoid of top end or clarity, etc.)

TLDaddy: Again I have to bother you about the door panels... I know there is the one big screw in the middle of the door...any others? Or are all the rest just those pop-off fasteners? THanks!!

i think aftermarket speakers won't sound as good with the stock amp, i read from previous threads...and they mentioned that. so i already have a kicker amp from my trade in that i'm going to put in the TL-S. just my $.02
