cruise at. I've noticed that alot of people are saying how they went up to 100 and 130 miles per hour, but have any of you went that speed at a constant level? Not just hit it and come back down. Is the car stable at those speeds?

What do you mean by a constant level? I did 130 mph racing with a BMW X5 4.0 on the turnpike coming back from Great Adventure in October. We were at 130 for a good 15 minutes. 15 minutes might not seem like a long time but at 130 mph everything is a blur outside. Let me tell you that the TL is solid as a rock at that speed. We both slowed down after that because we saw the cops. I wouldn't recommend driving at that speed for an extended period of time. Usually I go 100+ only for passing or racing a car but never longer than necessary.

Well for me it's always between 75~85 cruising, above that for passing. But several nights ago, there was a cop driving a squad car with no lights on top & he stared at me with my speed (about 80) from the inner lane for a good three seconds ! I swallowed my pride & switched lane after him : he didn't give me a ticket as I was just following the traffic I guess

Depending on traffic, usually I cruise at around 75-85. When staying up with faster cars, in the 90's, commuting on 101? 5mph.

Drive the Bay Area-LA route at around 95-105 for 50-100 miles at a time, VERY smooth, slowing only for CHP and low flying aircraft (speedcheck planes)

i know that pic is fake, but how u get it to say gear 6, the car doesnt even have it, and i love the way the land looks around the car as its blistering down the road. IS it photshop or something. By the way, i like the pics of the 2 tls u posted yesterday r 2 days ago, love the rims on the black one and the cl-s rims on the white one. anyone wanna buy mine, JK, but i may have done it if they didt have to be on the car when i turn in the lease.

damn yo. 130 for 15 minutes! Where you manage to do that at? Constant level? I mean what speed you normally travel at when cruising on the highway. Nice to hear my TL can maintain 100 mph for around 100 miles without difficulty!!!

90 or so on a road trip is no problem w/ the detector, and it's all to easy to creep up to and pass 100. i try to stay at under 20 over the speed limit, as i don't wanna go to jail. here in Texas you run the risk of jail at more than 20 ticks over the posted limit, which is 70 on the interstates.

i'm a wimp, never did much over 105. at least the car is very stable at that speed, once i couldn't help myself and was driving girlfriend and her sister, and asked, "how fast you think we're going?" they were pissed when they saw it was over 100, thought we were maybe going a little faster than the limit...

I drive with the traffic flow, but when there is none, I drive about 5-8 mph above the limit.

My insurance is so low right now, I hate to endanger that.

Also, I CRAWL through neighborhoods.

it's not very stable at speed like 145 MPH, but it is alright. it's not a Porsche, so, don't expect too much from the TL when you're up there high.

Blackshadow drives really really fast. I can talk from personal experience of being in his TL, going to visit Mafioso one weekend.

When we were coming back home he would constantly hit 100 mph, but the thing is there was crazy traffic. So the story about him hitting 130 with the x5, i believe, b/c he told me that same story a few weeks back.

Yo bdimc2001, thanks for the support. To souljas_1, I hit 130 mph on the NJ Turnpike racing with the BMW X5 at @ 10:30 p.m. There weren't that many cars on the turnpike so I had plenty of space to fly. But I normally would drive between 85-100 cruising on the highway. But I did average 110 mph going down to Florida last year. I got to Florida in 16 hours from NJ.

Back when i did my high speed test, I did like 151 for like 10 minutes. I kept mashing on the pedal for it to go more, but i had a little wind also.

ON my way to Dallas, roads were empty as hell. This being in hte boonies in TX of course. Anyways, I was cruising at 140, and somebody called the cops on me. A cop on the other side of the road saw me and pulled me over and told me about it. I didn't get a ticket cuz he had no radar, but he told me if the tropper would have pooled me over he would have. This was like a sheriff or something who probably doesn't do traffic stuff. I saw him up ahead anyways and was already going back to 70 cuz at that speed i'm like concentrating on the road and cops.

Damn in NY we just don't push 90 cruising. I usually cruise at 70-75, on the belt parkway of course. Shoofin from canarsie should feel me on that.

Just curious to know how stable at speed are modified (shocks, springs, swaybars) TLs?
Red Hot TL stated the TL is "not a Porsche" with respect to high speed stability. While no doubt true, none of my previous 911 Turbos (not to mention my previous Viper RT/10, ZR1 or Ferrari 348) could begin to compare to my NSX in this regard. At 145 MPH, the NSX is incredibly stable and composed.

Well, yes, I usually drive 65-70 on the belt, if no traffic or late at nite or early morning, 80 mph, of course I know all the speed traps there too...

P.S. I'm in the gravesend area, not canarsie.

i dont think they should make any suv's go that fast......imagine if that guy had a blow out or had to shift lanes to avoid someone or something.......its all over then . Some crazy bastard tried to race me in his x5 also on the cross bronx .... this guy did not want to loose ..even at the risk of others and his own life.Even thou the risk of injury is high with any vehicle .... to do it with a suv is just nuts.

Unfortunately with the heavy traffic and stupid drivers (passing lane blockers) around Vancouver I don't get up to cruising speed very often. I'll be lucky to get up to 80km/h on the freeway.
