guys after my acident my left HID went out. it was working for a few hrs and then at nite it started flashing on and off and then finally went out. its been out for 2 days. i guess it just blew. any thoughts?! how much does it cost to replace the bulb?!?!

 

that sucks- tpatel- were they stock bulbs? most people here (myself also when mine burn out) buy 6000k Phillips HID bulbs. i THOUGHT they were $200 a pair now i just looked it up and it's $320 for a pair. OR you could buy BLUER headlights (same bulb) 8000k. they're on sale at 99 a bulb. (http://xenondepot.com/category.php?category_id=8)

its the ballast. if an hid goes out.. its out.. no flashing will occur

 

Troubleshoot it, test to make sure taht ur bulb is ok by swapping them. I agree with optiq!

Are you sure it is the ballast first? Swap the bulbs and check it out.

 

everytime i go to this one car wash by me the left side ballast/ignitor goes out ...had it replaced three times already from the dealer under warranty. If your car isnt still under warranty i would then check if its the bulb by doing the swap but other wise i would just take it to the dealer.

 

nsx you have a water leek in the headlight that happens to me

 

are the HIDs for the 99 TL turn blue then to white after warmed up? i bought my car and the right ilght turns white while the left still has a bluish tint to it.. time for new bulbs?

 

Where is the water leaking into? the headlight housing, or into the ballast unit?

I'm still looking for a ballast for the passenger side...i haven't had time to fix it yet...so i'm driving with 1 headlight at night..

anyone know if '01 ballast will work on an '02?? are the plugs the same? i heard the '01 unit is bigger...

Hey patel, i got a pair of OEM Phillips HID bulbs that i took out from my TL, they were replaced by Phillips Ultinons 6000K, they are useless to me i think i cant let them out for under 100. Msg me if you are interested. And by the way the ballast is underneth the headlight, and the ignitor (small box in between the bulb n ballast) is within the headlight unit. Guys this is how a HID bulb dies THE LIGHT EMITTED FROM THE BULB TURNS TO RED AND NOT BRIGHT RED, BUT JUST RED, IT WOULD STAY THAT WAY FOR A FEW DAYS IF NOT WEEKS, AND THEN THE BULB WOULD GO OUT, IF THAT EVER HAPPENS TO YOU THAT MEANS ITS THE BULB, AN HID BULB LASTS MORE THAN 5 OR 6 YEARS AND OUT TLZ ARE ONLY ABOUT 5 YEAR OLD SO NO ONE HAS HAD THAT PROBLEM YET, BUT ONE OF MY MATE HAD A LINCHON MARK VIII AND THAT CAR IS FAIRLY OLD, ONE OF HIS HID BULBS WENT OUT ON HIM LIKE THIS. And i believe some cars with HIDz owners manuals also state this aswell. But anyways if its the ballast which i m sorry to say is, then you might have to go to the dealer ship to get one.

 

Is that the headlight that got water in it.. If it is there might be water in the ballast. Take it out and blow dry it. See if that works before spending more on a new balastic.
