How Do I clean the engine?
#3
I use Arm and Hammer baking soda
Just fooling @. I have never tried it, but one thing for sure you need to cover all electronics. And make sure you fire up your car afterwards to let all moisture evaporates. Try not to use some strong detergents like oil eater. I just feel that kind of stuff is too strong unless you have an extremely oily, sticky compartment. Maybe some very diluted dish washing soap and an old tooth brush. Depends on your are washing the engine or engine bay.

Go to a do-it-yourself carwash. They have the engine/tire cleaner. Open your hood and spray it all around (not too much though). Then wait about a minute. Then use the rinse, but don't press the lever. It should be a strong enough spray to get everything clean. After you spray off all the cleaner, wait about 5-10 minutes before turning on your car. I just did that yesterday, now my TL engine bay is clean as a whistle! You might also want to use a towel to speed up the drying process and prevent water spots.
Hope this helps,
Peter.

Let your engine cool down. Take some Simple Green and a rag and wipe down the dirty areas. You can use a toothbrush as well to get hard to reach areas. Clean it as good as you can. Apply protectant to the rubber, I recommend 303 Aerospace protectant, as well as plastic pieces.
