Hot Damn! FINALLY broke into the 13's tonight!!!

Yea baby!!!

I ran in the left lane three times when I started to notice everyone was getting their best time on the right. So I switched over and Hot Damn! 13's

Great times--sprayed or not!!!
I think the r/t assumes .5...The one r/t is great! That appears to be really where you are missing your 13's consistently. Of course, this winter, you'll be into the 13's all the time! Did you adjust your tires at all???
Vince explained to me your setup and it is a lot sweeter than what I initially thought, joecoool (though I was in love anyway). Did any of those S6 guys go with you to G-ville?
They are gonna do some work for me next week and I'll finally get to the track at some point after that...

Reaction times have absolutely no effect on your ET. I've sat at the green light for almost a second b/c they tripped the tree like the second I pulled up there. Most people see the lights go and just hit it even if they aren't ready. You can sit there as long as you want...the clock doesn't start until you move

A4 is correct from all the other posts I've read about r/t. The real measure of how well off the line he's doing is the 60' time, which as you guys can see was best in his 13.9 run. This tells you if you are getting good traction or not punching it enough off the line. r/t just tells you how quickly you are reacting to the tree. What I don't understand is why a .500 reaction time is perfect. Is it correct to assume that Joecool was jumping the gun a little on the green?

No, thats the reaction time above .500. It would have been a negative number if I had redlighted.

.500 is consider perfect as it would take the average person .5 seconds to "react" to the stimulus of the green light and begin movement...

I sound smart even if I'm not...

When you do a 1/4, essentially you take off from the line. Is it better to gradually press the gas so that the wheels DON'T spin, or is it better to gunn it to the floor from the start and let VSA do it's thing and cut the engine, then take off?

Basically the question is, from rest should you put the pedal to the floor, or gradually push it?

One on the brake, one on the gas. Last yellow light, slide the foot off the brake while flooring the gas.

so you mean you have your left foot pushing the brake, and your right foot resting on the gas, but not pushing it, then when the light goes yellow, you slip the left foot off, and floor the gas? or do you push the gas slightly, and push the brakes so the brakes are holding the car, then release the brakes which will make the car take off?

which one is it?

You probably shouldn't, in essence, power brake this car...Just leave the right resting on the gas, the left depressing the brake. When you see the yellows, remove your foot from the brake and stomp on the gas with the VSA off...This assumes you do not have bald tires and assumes you aren't grossly overinflated...If either, flooring the car doesn't help and certainly, if you have bald or overinflated tires, you probably shouldn't being qorking on your best 1/4 without adjusting either issue...

I have the rpms at 1500 when I let off the brake.

That's the way Gainesville does it? Odd, because every other track I've been to (Orlando, a few up North) just shows straight reaction time, which would mean every one of those is a Red light. Given that Gainesville hosts some big events, I find it odd that they are doing it differently than the rest of the drag racing world.

Looks like they prepped the right lane better. 60' made all the difference.

Reaction time is a measure from the time the last yellow light comes on, until you roll out of the stage beam. .500 is perfect RT for a full tree (the three yellows tick down, then green), and .400 for a Pro-tree (all yellows on at once, then green). The .500 is actually the length of time between when the third yellow light comes on, and the green light comes on (similarly, on a pro tree, the yellow to green delay is .400 sec). It has nothing to do with human reaction time per se- since the green light doesn't come on for .500 sec after the last yellow, it doesn't matter if you can beat it.

Nice runs though. Are you just spraying the gas into the intake pipe, in front of the throttle body? And no extra fuel?

None of them are red lights. Gainesville started measuring the r/t's a .500 + time this year. All of the NHRA tracks started doing it this way this year. If you go here to the race results, you will see they are all measured that way.

-APR stage 3 and SS exhaust and a ton more..
- 13.2 @ 104.3 so far...
looks like someone has gone back to the track...100 or 104? I got my spec 6 puck clutch in a gb for like $400...so I have to think about getting that installed and go back to see if I can do some damage. Still leaking somwhere but putting down 223 to the wheels.

hey joecooool, I don't know if you received my pm/email about the msd rpm window, but could you tell me how you got yours set up?

r10 referred me to you for advice, and mentioned that you have something special set up with MSD.

I'm getting a 75 wet shot installed right now. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, you will have to splice into your coil packs to get a tach signal. If you try to run it off of any other signal outlet, the computer will notice a drain in the system and activate the VSD causing the car to run lean. You can call my speed shop - Stage 6 at 904-777-3250 and talk to Vince about what all is necessary.
