hood pins

can someone tell me what hood pins are actually used for?

they are usually used to hold a light weight hood down so it doesnt fly up in your face when you are driving around. it doesnt have to be light weight, and it may just be for show, but it does serve an important function. some racing hoods dont have latches, so these are essential.

would anyone driving a tl with the stock hood ever NEED them? i often drive >100 mph

You'll need a lot more than hood pins to save yourself if you often drive over 100mph. Good Luck.

No.

Hood pins are typically used as the hood latch on race cars. It allows faster access to raising the hood
