Question Homelink Transmitter???

I tried to program the homelink transmitter in my TL to open my garage door but it does not work. I followed the instructions in the manual step by step and it still didn't work. I must have tried at least 10 times.

What am I doing wrong?

i have all three programs working in mine. if your garage door is less than nine years it should work. the best thing to do is have your wife or someone else read the directions with you and try it again and if that still doesn't work, call your local service dept. and they'll walk you through it and trouble shoot.
when i first tried mine, i couldn't get it to work either, but i grabed my wife and we were able to figure it out. hope this helps.

There is a learn\training button in garage door opener.Have someone or wife push that button for u.There will be a light blink or stay on.

Some Garage door openers have a rolling code feature.

You can't hold down the button on the original transmitter when programming the Homelink.

You have to press it repeatedly.

Try that. Worked for me.

Also, Homelink's website has a longer piece of .PDF documentation on programming. It covers different devices. I don't have my TL manual in front of me, but it might offer slightly more detail. Then again, it might not solve your problem, but it's nice to have if you ever want to add home security, lighting, etc. to the system. Good luck!

Hey BlackShadow, what brand garage opener you got? I got a Crafstman (rolling code) and had the same problems at first, but got it to work eventually.

You have to program the transitters as if they are not "rolling code" first, and then follow your garage door opener instructions on how to add remotes.

If ALL ELSE fails, you need to call the Homelink people and tell them what kind of opener you have. Even some new ones will not work, like mine. They sent me a seperate power supply that I had to splice into my opener wires. It was an easy job and once installed the homelink programmed as per manual instructions. It now works great!

Homelink worked the first time I tried it... and the intructions for my garage door opener says it has "rolling code." Maybe I got lucky.

I like Homelink in my TL.

There's an 800 number in the owner's manual(TL) call them(The Homelink company) and they will guide you thru it.. I had a problem with my opener, but when they helped me, I got it..

Just aim the damn remote right at the homelink. Mine worked fine. It is really convenient.
