hmmmmmmm

k i tried to replace the wiper the other day and as stupid as this may sound.. i couldn't take out the driver side wiper unless i turn it on.. let it go to the middle and quickly turn it off so it gets stuck there.

to simply put it.... my hood is covering my driver side wiper so i can't bend it back to change the wiper or anything unless i stop the wiper mid way. the passenger side wiper is ok to bend back but the driver side one is being covered by the hood.

so like.. what do i do here.. i tried opening the hood but no luck..... i'm sure there is a very easy way. i'm just afraid to pull the wiper up before bending it back cuz it might damage the motor. tahts y i turn it on and turn it off mid way . does that make any sense?

In order to get the wiper to lift up you have to turn them on, then when its at its highest point shut the car off

Lol

ya thats what i've been doing all these days but thats SOO GHETTO!! i mean... that means i can't try out just 1 wiper to see which one makes the noise since it will scratch the glass. because i basically want to keep 1 up while the other one wipes to find out which one is making the bloody noise when it wipes.

ahh well..... plus in the winter here, a lot of ppl pull up their wipers so it doesn't freeze, in my case i have remote start so i can't really remote start it because the damn wipers will start to work and scratch my hood and mess up since they are bent up (to prevent freezing)...

simply.......... cool that the wipers are very low below teh hood but very ghetto.

I'm pretty sure that in the manual, it tells you do exactly what you figured out on your own. To keep them up during a storm, just turn the car off with them in mid-wipe and pull them up. Won't be able to use your remote starter, but you won't have to pry the wiper blades out of the snow and ice either!

remote start rules

actually i never pry it because these are so low below the hood that ice barely builds up, besides, when i usually remote start, i set the temp high to defrost so it actaully heats up the windshield a bit so when i come, the wipers are already a lil defrosted ... i knwo it sounds funny but trust me... if u remote start the car for a good 10 minutes, ur wipers and windshield will clear up.

p.s: i dont read manuals.. manuals are for ppl who follow instructions i like to take shortcuts and bend the rules.

You can lock the wipers up with the car running. If you carefully select between the high and low settings while they are in the up position they will stop there allowing the car to run and warm up while having them up.

On a side note ive never pulled wipers up in the winter to keep them from freezing. never had a problem with them freezing.
Also if they are making noise or not working as well just replace the both of them. I replace mine atleast 2 times a year. For how cheap wipers are its a very cheap safety investment. Most waste more money detailing their cars in a summer, or waste money putting in syn to protect their motor better and then change it every 3k than 2 sets of wipers cost

your right but....

i've changed my wipers atleast 4 times in the past 3 months. really annoying if you ask me. i bougtht these expensive REFLEX wipers from Canadian tire (popular hardware store here in Canada) .. and these things i guess are just not compatible with the car. they work perfectly on other cars but on TLs, after a while. they starty making noise when there is very little water or if they are running too fast.

with the cheap crap.. they dont make noise at all but i hate the way they look, i'm tryin to get that AUDI look (and please for the smart asses out there, dont say "then get an audi" lol..) ... the audi has it where it covers the blades very well and they are pretty much like the reflex blades that stick to the windshield. plus the wipers i have right now.. u can barely see them , thats how thin they are and since the hood kinda covers the wipers, it gives it a very nice touch.

pics coming soon ppl, i'm still at work lol...

2nd vote for the new style Bosch wipers. The IONS blow away the old style Micro Edge.

One piece unit, aerodynamic, sealed to keep snow and ice out, must try to believe

Very good investment, seeing is important- right up there with stopping power!

3rd vote for Bosch ICON. Just had a freeze yesterday and they weren't stuck to the glass. Also, another way to get the wipers to pause in their travel is to bump the wiper stalk down toward mist. If you hit it just right they will pause just on top of the defroster vents. This is a Honda trick from way back.

just take a 14mm wrench and loosen the nut that holds the wiper arm onto the spindle, raise the wiper arm to your preferred height and re-tighten the nuts, that way they will clear the hood without having to turn them on

as far as the wiper blades go I use PIAA in the summer and Reflex in the winter

heres a pic of the position

im curently using those cdn tire wettec blades, its pretty good, if its only snow an dno ice, i can flick the switch on and its clear, also its the best when raining, when on the hwy and it rains and im behind someone, it beads up instead of smearing all over and u gotta keep the blades on, on fast, with me i always have it on the manual setting..

I was just joking with you. I live in Florida, so gladly I don't have to deal with all of that, but I do have to deal with the rain every other day in the summer and sticking to the hot leather... not for long gonna install the remote starter to cool off the seats before I get in ;-)

Very little snow here in NC. I just replaced the Acura wipers with Bosch=They are SOOOOOOOOOOO quiet and wipe much better compared to the original wipers. I also replaced the Rods (that had worn plastic clips) on the Wiper Assembly. For about $78 bucks total, I now have wipers that don't make any noise and don't travel too far and hit the edge of the windshield. They were Very noisy before this and annoying. Wish I would have bought the Bosch before. fsttyms1 was right again in other posts recommending them. THANKS!

Try the Michelin HydroEdge at Costco, they cost me about $15-$20 each, they dont make any noises and cleans the windshield nicely.

^ its winter Get over it . Hell Im lucky if my car only gets washed once between Dec and April. Any more than that and its a waste of money, as once i leave the carwash its dirty or it will snow the next day

Bosch Icons are the wipers to look for. All pars stores carry them
