Thumbs up hit the VTEC for the first time!!!

haha...

since i got my oil change a couple days ago...so it's VTEC time finally...i have waited for 4 full months to taste my own car's VTEC...rode in lots of VTEC cars but first time to hit VTEC on my own...heh...

SS in 3rd on hwy and it was just so great!! it revs so nice and the noise is healthy...pretty damn gd...

although it doesn't scream as gd as the maxima...the VQ is just a screamer!! i still like my TL's sound...sweet!!

The roads were wet tonight, so on the way home, a friend pulls up next to me at a light, in his girlfriend's Tahoe. She rolls down the window, and he says "wanna race?". So, I turn off VSA, barely have time to power brake (maybe 1,500rpm), and GREEN Light. Tires start spinning right away, rpms hit 6,500 and i shift to 2nd (yes, I am shifting through the gate), tires still spinning, not sure how fast I am going... rpm's around 6,000 so I shift to 3rd, I feel the transmission shift to 3rd, also, and it's still spinning. I finally let off the gas, the tach and speedometer catch up, and I'm going ~40 mph, so I wasn't "speeding". Anyway, the car sounds soooo good at those rpm's. Makes me want to go back out and hit it again.

im kinda confused ab what vtec really is. the tl is basically my first car that is fast. so its the only car ive really pushed hard. is VTEC when u downshift from like 3 to 2nd and all of a sudden ur at 5 rpms and hit 7 rpm REAL quick, and there is a massive roar?
but wont this happen in ne car if u down shift?

VTEC is a valve lifting system that will open up more valves in higher rpm and push the cam harder for more hp and more efficiency (am i correct?)
for TL the engine starts to have real power from 3500rpm...u can hear the difference as it sounds like u have 10 or 20 more hp...

no difference in low rpm vs ordinary engine but in higher rpm it climbs faster(a lot faster) and u won't feel power loss at redline...

VTEC sounds healthy at high rpm while some engines sounds they are going to break down...but not a real screamer thou...unless it's a DOHC VTEC engine...

No, but it kind of.

VTEC is Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control.

Here is a good topic http://www.howstuffworks.com/question229.htm
