Wink HIT 95MPH TODAY!!

heh heh.... i was on the northern state pkwy today on my way to work, and a VW GTI blew past me so i decided to go after him. i caught up to him with no problem, but before i knew it, i looked down on the speedometer...and it read 90....95...
then i had to slow down, i only had 650 miles on my baby, and i want to wait till 1K miles to really punch it. he probably thought i wanted to run him or something but it was great, i loved the speed

Cool

It's really easy to go fast in this car and not know it.

Hehee... the TLS is definitely a bad a$$ machine. Last night I was tail gating a 3000GT going up to 70 mph in a 45 mph zone. He finally gas it and I slow down knowing that the area was full of cops. But the whole time I was right behind him and could have smoke him if I wanted to.

I have a coworker who has fantasies that his '99 Prelude can beat my TLS. The other day, there was a big group of us going to lunch and we had to take 2 cars - mine and his. He got in front of me at first because of traffic, but as soon as I got a clear lane, I blew by him easily. When I looked at the speedo, I was right at 100 - with 3 other people in the car. It felt like I was doing 70 - man I love this car!

AVIREX, how does the speed compare to your 98 LS400. I know they are different leagues, but I am curious about the difference between the V8 and the V6.

well the V8 when i punch it, the engine immediately responds...and pulls. on the TL-S, when i punch it....it kinda takes a second or two lag, then the engine goes. on ride comfort/handling, the LS of course rides like a boat and is ultra quiet. the TL-S rides a bit more firm, but handles way better than the LS.

Cool

650 already??? Man that was fast. I myself just hit 2k. Gotta keep a sharp eye on that speedo. My main problem with this car is that the fun only starts at about 90. This car seems like it was made for triple digit speeds.

I have a little story that I think You all might like. I was at the yearly car show in Syracuse N.Y. last winter, when I met a friend of mine, who always has a really nice fast car. He was just comming out of the luxury section of the show and I was heading in. He told me to check out the new Audie. I did, but I told him that I wanted to see the new Acura TL type S. I was bummed because it was to early and it wasnt out yet. I explained to him that it was going to have 260 HP and he seemed impressed. I told him that this was my dream car. I was driving a 87 Acura Legend at the time and told him that it was the best car I had ever owned. Well about 2 weeks ago, he shows up to church with a sliver tl Type S, and it has the ground effects and spoiler, Wow I was excited. He said that I turned him on to the car and offered to take me for a ride. I said, well you know what I said. I get in the car and he pulls out of the church parking lot and before I know it he's doing about 50mph in a 35 zone. I got that feeling that you get when your on a rollercoster. He got up to about 70mph. when he had to slow down because we were heading for carrier circle a very busy circular road. He proceded to jump out in front of oncoming cars and go around the circle at about 60 mph, at that point my heart was in my mouth! He then told me that this was by far the best and fastest car he had ever owned. I could not get to sleep that night, I still had adrenaline pumping through me. I can't wait until I can get me one of these machines. I want black with the gold accents. Sure hope my stocks go up soon!!

So the V8 from the LS car is more powerful than the V6 from the TL-S? Or is it mearly the same? Cause the LS is 2 times more expensive than the TL-S.

i can't really tell if the LS is faster, but it has more throttle response.

I wish my TL-S was that fast w/ three people. With Three people, I feel like I'm driving a Hyundai Sonata. That's the problem w/ VTEC .. though they claim that it produces fantastic high end power ALONG with low-end, that is certainly the case only w/ one person in the car. However, w/ three, the only high-end power is up top. That 232lb-ft. of torque just ain't enough! My friend's Buick Regal will still spank 328i's w/ only a driver while three of us are in the Regal GS. Of course, he has 280lb-ft of torque down low.

Last week or so a guy in a Jetta (I guess a VR6 -- it had no emblems) was tailing me on the interstate. So, I decided I wanted to lose him. Boy was I disappointed. He dropped off a bit when I first punched it but pretty much just hung w/ me on up to about 125 or so. Then I started thinking about my wife and kids and how they wouldn't appreciate it very much if I were dead or in jail for killing someone else, so I slowed back down to 80. But I did come to the conclusion that I need more power. So until I can get my M5, I guess I'll be calling Comptech.

I've had my TL-S to a tad under 150 MPH, but I will never do it again.
A warning to all: The TL-S does not feel stable on the stock tires past 120 (especially when trying to take any type of turn)
