Post hit 145

Hit 145 tonight, felt like I could push it about 20 mph's more though, is this possible? It was an empty freeway, 3 am. I slowed as I approached a car. The car goes MAD fast, but the cabin rumbles.

I doubt it would have gone much faster than that. Especially only with an exhaust. It's pretty scary going that fast anyway, I wouldn't want to try anything faster than that. Especially on stock tires!

probably feel better with a roll crash/roll cage, 5pt belt, helmet, and fireproof overalls

150mph on an uncontrolled pubic road is scary stuff :-0

i must admit, the ride was pretty unstable, the highway was bare, and I slowed when I saw a car. I just reached 145 for a second and slowed, will tires make a difference for the stability? I'll probably not be doing that again for a while.

My top speed so far was 143 mph here on Rt 280 in NJ at 4 a.m. My TL was pretty stable at that speed. BTW, my TL was all stock. It felt like it could probably do a little more (150+).

That's pretty cool. Especially for him living in Hawaii. If he did actually do this though, it probably wasn't in a TL. I thought we only had 5 gears??

I got up to 120mph on rt 280 once, but it was daytime. This guy in a honda accord was right on my a$$ and when i switched to the center lane so he could pass he slowed down. When i got back in the left lane he was right behind me again, so i had to lose him!

That's really freaky going that fast w/ stock wheels. Yes, wheels would help a lot for stability. Also, having intake and headers would make the ride more enjoyable due to the lovely sound the engine would make. But, i know when i go around 90mph on the freeway, my lateral mirrors make an annoying sound due to wind resistance...was that not a problem w/ you?

Cool

I only had the car at that speed for a brief time, i wasnt cruising at that speed. No i generally dont hear much noise inside the car at high speeds either. I usually drive at 80mph consistantly (g/f about 45 mins away) and dont notice any noise from the mirrors.

It might have been your aero kit that contributed to the instability at speed. I know it might tweek some knobs in here, but those things can upset the handling at high speeds. They arent really designed for that type of speed.

If your car was seriously unstable at that speed, I'd have to question the body kit. Before my '99 TL I had a '93 Accord SE (bone stock) that I took up to 123mph. It felt just like going 50mph, except stuff was coming up faster. ;-) Oh yeah, and it was *really loud*. An I4 revving at nearly 5000 RPM isn't exactly quiet.

funny you guys said that because the next morning, my kit came loose. The front was dragging on the floor for a while before I noticed it... strange.
