Hid Question
Hid Question
I know our stock hid setup is 4300k. I want to upgrade and order the hid 10k kit. It says if its H2,H3,H4,H5, ETC....Can anybody tell me wut one is it for 2000tl. I kno the 10k are bright as a muthafucka. I kno i wil be blindin people left and right and stright. Yet i neva seen them in person only on the fourms and shit from "blackedout." I wanna also no if my hyper white turning signals will be hidden from the brightness of the 10k, should i upgrade to different bulbs. helppp
Do not buy any of those H3, HB4 ... etc kits. Those are for people who do not have HID stock. All you need to do is buy D2R bulbs at the 10000k rating. If you are in for less light on the road(very hard to see in rain especially) then go 10000k. Otherwise 6000k is the farthest I go. Anyway, take pics when you get them installed!!
will 10k or even the 12k, do you think it may melt the plastic off?

4300k = True White (Still looks yellow to us due to optical illusion)
5000k = White (Actually a mix of some blue but not noticeably diffent from stock)
6000k = White with tint of purple (Looks beautiful but has a minute decrease in Lumens or brightness)
8000k = BLUE/GREEN(Fraction of light on ground)
10000k = DARK BLUE(Really cool looking, but now your eyes hurt after driving long enough)
12000k+ = Purple (By now you will have to wear night vision goggles)
That's the breakdown. On wattage.. I would recommend no higher than 65W for halogen bulbs you can get... any higher and you risk frying your housing. But common sense is to follow stock which is 55W for most bulbs.

Dude, are you talking about an HID conversion or just a bulb replacement?
The higher your Ks are the LESS light output it has. The higher number means the measurement in light output as per the light spectrum.
Your stock 4300K, as "normal" as it may seem, has one of the brightest HID outputs out there since it is the closest to the whitest area of the spectrum. Be careful with replacement bulbs as there are imitation ones out there that are not as good as the factory ones. Philips, Sylvania. OSRAM are the best bulbs for HID and the most reliable.
IMO, trying to look like the BMWs and Mercedes is more than just replacing the bulbs. If you notice them head-on at an angle, the glare is BLUE. I think it is merely from the projector lens giving off a bluish hue on the peripheral beam and not the bulbs themselves. Coz if you drive a BMW or Mercedes, the light output is actually WHITE and not blue.

do not get 10K or 12K at all lol their output will be similar to halogens and maybe stock halogens in some cars have more output than the 10-12k's. it won't be brighter than your stock hid which is 4100k i believe...they're the brightest you can get. it might look nice tho but i say stick w/ your stock or maybe get philips 6000k...that's the highest i would go w/o sacrificing light output. but if you're going for looks then yea the 10+K bulbs will look very colorful =)
this topic was just discussed last week.

It could be the prismatic effect of the light on the curvature of the projector lens. Those "blue" rays do nothing to your driving, you probably don't even see it at all. (Not in a Benz or an Audi anyway).
It's just the ricer who wants the look of an expensive headlight without actually fully understanding the concept of HID. Why do you think there is a big market for colored blue and purple bulbs as well as stolen HID sets?
I also frequently see those riced up cars that has the PIAA or whatever bulbs and angle them up wanting to look like HID equipped cas but you see nothing but annoying glare.
The TL has one of the best looking stock HIDs out there, IMO.

D2S&D2R is for car which already have HID conversion kits. You can't use H1~H11 series to replace D2S or D2R. If you want to upgrade the light, just change the bulb. However, I don't suggest you use 10K 's bulb. The color is too blue and with a little bit purple. It's dangerous while you are driving if it's raining.

Right, don't buy any H1-H11 series kits.
However, if you got 10k or even 12 k's kits, it's hard to see in raining day.
Because the color of the buls is blue, not yellow, therefore you can't see clearly.
I'm selling HID kits.
