HID problems

I bought 5000k HID bulbs from Akinboy last jan. I know my 4 year old factory bulbs had a more blue tint to them. These bulbs are more yellow. Shoudnlt the 5000k be a lil bit more blue than stock? Also the visibility was alot better with the stock. I tried to adjust the height of them but the stock look alot better. My friend has some 6000ks in his GS and those have better visibility than mine.

the higher the kelvin doesn't mean the better the visibility. It has been proven that around 4300k produces the most light. The blue effect that u are wanting if oftentimes from dyed bulbs, which produces less light.

to answer your question, yes. 5000 should be more blue-ish than the 4300. like hines said tho, optimal light output is with the 4300 stockers. sounds like the bulbs you bought are either worn out and about to die, or they are the wrong kelvin degree. good luck.

typically that works its way out. The solvents get messed up when shipped, etc. I'm guessing u bought, as u mentioned above, did not spend much on these bulbs. Therefore, they clearly are coated w/ a purplish/blueish tint that either wasn't properly done or its just a cheap bulb. Try and stay away from tinted bulbs.

They cheap bulbs. Also the bulb was shipped bare, it was just in bubble wrap.

fool me once...shame on you...fool me twice...shame on me! Dont buy from some website or ebay dealer......get em from a reputable source. Fact is...you have already spent $70 and you say your stockers look better....I cant believe you would go down this path a second time?

Stock bulbs provide the most lumens (best illumination), period.

However, new HID bulbs are ALWAYS yellowish until they undergo color shift, it takes several hours of usage for this to happen. You can always tell a brand new car with HIDs because they will appear yellowish.

And to whoever asked, Kris (fsttyms1) has not replaced his low beams in around 200k miles. HIDs are designed to last this long and have for him, but if I'm not mistaken he did say that his were starting to turn yellow again (this indicates that they are nearing end of life).

Sellers name edited out.

He was contacted about becoming an official vendor, but declined. Therefore no posts mentioning him, and thereby giving him exposure, and sales will be allowed.

Thanx everyone.
