HID light question

I love the way my 99 TL lights are so blue when they first light up but then die to a whitish color. Im looking at www.suvlights.com and see that the vestec 8000k lights are really blue..would they fit in my car and should i get the d2s or d2r?

We talk numerous times about this in here but let me give you a hint, if you install that 8000K Vestec bulb, yes you will have a very purple/bluish light but you might want to look at the front of the car and see that there is almost no light output. The higher you get in the light spectrum the least output you are going to get, just ask the ones that put the 6000k and they will tell you that they are happy with the color but that they lost light output.
Also there is an issue with using our ballast with those bulbs.
Do some research before you do this, those bulbs are expensive and you are not going to be happy.

Yes get either Osram or Philip D2R 6000K. Never go beyond 6000k because you will get diminished lightoutput and the fact that you need a new ballast for anything beyond 6000k.

Does anyone have a pic of 6000K compared to 4300K... and from the driver perspective. I at least want to see what you guys are talking about. Also - I have a 99 TL with 85K miles on it... if I install new 4300K bulbs, will it make it brighter? I've been noticing that they aren't as bright as they used to be. I'll be purchasing within the next week.

Ask and you shall receive: 4300K (left) vs. 6000K (right)

Sorry, it's not from the driver's perspective.

I have a 99 TL also.

Why buy new 4300K bulbs when you can get the 6000K for about the same price or cheaper and it will look 100x better.

I got the D2R ones from a guy in Taiwan. It was hard at first but I got the hand of it now. For the 03 the Passenger side is a lot easier to put in than the Driver side. I'll try to find the contact for him, I am sure they are other ppl on the forum that know as well.

OK - so I have one more question before I punch in that credit card number.... How badly is the visibility diminished???? If its too bad, then I'm not gonna do it, but if its just slightly, then I'm sold.

I can hook you up with Philips 6000K D2R or D2S: $230 shipped. Let me know if you need one set. I'll tell you what to do.

Here's the instruction for 6000K installation.

I had my car for about 2wks and then I changed them. I still have the stock bulbs but I haven't had the stock bulbs long enough to give a good comparison. But I can see well with the 6000ks or at least in my opinion. In NYC there is enough lighting already without my lights on.

Well... I'm sure I can always sell them on ebay if I dont like them - but the way you guys talk, I'm sure I will. I read the link that Paul wrote about installation... what was that someone was saying about the burn in time? You mean that as soon as I put the bulbs in I wont notice any color difference? I'm so confused over such a simple subject! LOL

Blackshadow nice pic by the way and by looking at them it look like it gives more like a purplish look not the bluish look, I dont know if it just me but damn the last car the Legend seems to be the brightest out them all, is it because they have a better ballast i dont know maybe you all can help me out and also are D2R or D2S bulbs better than like a H4 or H7 bulbs what is so different about them.

BTW, I have the D2S bulbs. I had to do a little modification to make it fit. Paul (songoku) can tell you all about it and post a pic of it. I am not home that's why I can't post up that pic right now.

But the D2R is a direct swap.

The legend probably looked the brightest because it was the closest to the camera. The 6000K is more of a bluish-white color (almost the same as the stock when it first turns on). I know the pic makes it looks purple but it is not.

As far as visibility is concerned, you will lose very little light compared to the stock. IMO, it is definitely worth it.

You can get different cheap brand for that temperture. But Philips/Osram only offer 4300K or 6000K.
