HID Kit, Advice Needed, D2S vs HIDextra

Hey dudes and dudettes.

On my 2nd gen TL-S, my HID ballast/igniter just got fried ... AGAIN. This time I think it was from the pressure car wash, water getting into the ballast or something like that. The bulbs are probably fine. So I went ahead and ordered a fresh set of gaskets from AcuraPartsWarehouse.com, based on ClubRacerX's recommendation in this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...highlight=part

Instead of spending all my precious cash on dealer parts again, I'm considering an aftermarket HID conversion kit. What do you guys think about the D2S kit vs. the HIDextra kit?
Ease of installation? Reliability? Appearance and color? Customer service? Any other options I should consider?

Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

neither get D2R kit, D2S kit will have too much glare without porjectors. i had people high beaming me with D2S 6000k, i switched back to oem osram D2R 4150k and im very happy. its much brighter than the 6000k and there is no glare.

I have the d2r kit from hidextra.com with 5000k bulbs

takes a minute to figure out you have to do slight mod to the housing for the ignitor cable connectors to fit thru the wire hole- (I used a flat file on its edge to make an access path-doesnt take much extra room)
and where to mount the ballast, but the rest is easy

tip: run an external ground wire off the ballast to a cleaned spot on the frame

I was able to hide all the parts under the bottem of the housing- as its slid into place

Good stuff, fellas. Thanks for the tips.

I just ordered up a D2R kit from hidextra with 5000K bulbs and the slim ballast upgrade. Will report back once I get it installed.

call them back and order the `relay kit` too--15 bucks
the TL seems picky about voltages and resistance thru the stock system,,

yes thats the one
Will bypass the stock wires and relay system with its own, one that will handle the changes made to current draw with different ballast and bulbs
