The problem is the halogen optics are not designed to focus the beam pattern of light that HID bulbs generate. Yep they will be brighter, but most of the light will be blinding oncoming drivers instead of lighting up the roadway.

thats called permanent high beams.....on some cars that have a seprate high and low beam hid kits are fine/better.....but on cars with one light for both high and low beams.....you get permanent high beam.....and just because special people do it doesn't make it right.....

That explains why my cousins celica always gets flashed by the oncoming trafic when he is driving with his HID on. It just wasn't designed for it.

Xenon is a type of gas. It's a Noble gas in fact.

Here is why you never put an HID kit in a headlight designed for a halogen bulb.

Check out this HORRIBLE narrow beam pattern. Notice how blue and stupid everything looks. Smurf-style y0!

Mmmm glare

You can certainly put HID in a non-HID housing. Keep in mind, the optics will be different as everyone has mentioned. There are kits that have bulbs to where the focal point of the HID matches to the same position of the halogen bulb for that housing's intended application..like 9004, 9006 etc. That does help a lot. I saw a demonstration of this and the beam pattern was right on the money, just brighter, shined further and wider. I have HID fogs in my TL Type S and my beam pattern is very, very close to stock. The fog lens on the TLs are really good with HIDs if you ask me. I never get flashed by oncoming traffic, even on long stretches of straight and dark back country roads. I've had 4100s and 3000K (yellow) and never flashed with either.

For your Nissan, you may have to aim your housing a little lower to reduce glare. It will make a difference for you, just make sure you don't blind other drivers and get a kit that has bulbs placing the bulb intensity (focal point) in the same position of the standard halogen bulb.

Good luck

Factory HID? Because the Celica does come from Toyota with Xenons. They are rare and hard to find (only available one or two years) but I have seen them at conicelli toyota and an older woman drives one at school with OEM xenons...maybe his are aimed too high if OEM?

maybe he meant the reason why his cousin's celica kept on getting flashed at was because he has After market hid, and that they weren't meant for his car.

do you mean they as in the Celica? those cheap aftermarket projector headlights on ebay are halogens. No way in hell are they going to put high quality projectors in those after market China shit. Anyways, if they did, I don't think they'll mass produce it and it'll cost a shit load.

i worked for an ebay company befor who sold auto parts like those projector headlights. i took some of the damaged headlights home and opened it up to see if i can use the projectors, but they were crap.

haha, cheap + quality = you're dreaming. haha. yeah man, they suck. it's just a halogen projector that has a cut off shield, which i can add is not straight. Like the Quality projectors, the cut off shield is straight and crisp. The ebay ones make a smiling cutoff.
