Here is why you never put an HID kit in a headlight designed for a halogen bulb.

the first video is great because not only does he have one HID kit in one headlight and the other stock to show good differences but you can also tell just how much glare you get. Also notice that the halogen side is actually puting out more useable light on the GROUND, where it counts!

Check out this HORRIBLE narrow beam pattern. Notice how blue and stupid everything looks. Smurf-style y0!

You can certainly put HID in a non-HID housing. Keep in mind, the optics will be different as everyone has mentioned. There are kits that have bulbs to where the focal point of the HID matches to the same position of the halogen bulb for that housing's intended application..like 9004, 9006 etc. That does help a lot. I saw a demonstration of this and the beam pattern was right on the money, just brighter, shined further and wider. I have HID fogs in my TL Type S and my beam pattern is very, very close to stock. The fog lens on the TLs are really good with HIDs if you ask me. I never get flashed by oncoming traffic, even on long stretches of straight and dark back country roads. I've had 4100s and 3000K (yellow) and never flashed with either.
For your Nissan, you may have to aim your housing a little lower to reduce glare. It will make a difference for you, just make sure you don't blind other drivers and get a kit that has bulbs placing the bulb intensity (focal point) in the same position of the standard halogen bulb.
Good luck

i worked for an ebay company befor who sold auto parts like those projector headlights. i took some of the damaged headlights home and opened it up to see if i can use the projectors, but they were crap.

haha, cheap + quality = you're dreaming. haha. yeah man, they suck. it's just a halogen projector that has a cut off shield, which i can add is not straight. Like the Quality projectors, the cut off shield is straight and crisp. The ebay ones make a smiling cutoff.
