HID Bulb Replacement
HID Bulb Replacement
I've been trying to search the forums, but the search function doesn't seem to be working.
I need to test my HID bulb on my driver side, but I have no clue how to get in there to take it out so that I can put it in the passenger side. Did you guys have to remove something to get in there? I saw the diy by fsttyms1, but that one only covers the unscrewing of the security torx screw. I need to figure out how to get access to that. I think on the driver's side you have your intake box and battery sorta in the way. Then if the bulb works, I'll have to figure out if I need a new ballast or igniter. If the bulb works, I'll place my order with excellerate.
Thanks!
PS: 2003 TL-S

On the passenger side there's a fluid reservoir that you can just pull up and off to the side in order to access the headlight assembly.
On the driver's side there are a couple of plastic vent duct pieces that can be removed. That will give you access. No tools are needed. (The battery won't be a problem.)
Be sure to wear gloves when handling the bulbs as the oil from your skin can cause a premature bulb failure.
If you do replace the bulbs, I wouldn't go higher than 5000K. The OEM bulb is 4300K. Going higher than 4300K trades visibility for color.

Thank you for your reply. I actually just noticed this morning that there is a lot of condensation inside my driver's headlight and even sitting water. I was in an auto accident over a year ago, so I'm going to take the vehicle to the shop where they fixed the car and ask them to take care of it. I don't know if they'll cover it, but they should since there is no reason for water to be in there, right?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
They might fix it for you if that headlight has a cracked seal or something, BUT they could say that stuff happens and it isn't their fault. Just don't let down and act like you know what you're talking about

Ok, so I took my car to the dealership this morning and guess what? Yes, there is a crack in the headlight and that's probably what caused the igniter to get soaked in water and fail. So, how much does this cost?
Ballast/Ignitor $533
Headlamp $462
What the heck? Can anyone recommend a good place to buy both these items?
At least they "washed" my car at the Acura dealership this morning
